running, gifts, rides and food ...

Those four words (running, gifts, rides and food) pretty much sum up my Mother's Day. But I think Dizzle hit the nail right on the head with her description of Mother's Day ...

According to my almost five year old, "Mother's Day is the day we HAVE to be nice to Mom."

Thanks Dizzle. Nice to hear that you don't try to be nice to me everyday. I love you too.

All joking aside, I did have a wonderful Mother's Day. And everyone was quite nice to me. The day started off early. I was hoping to get breakfast in bed, but my clan decided to sleep in and they missed me before I headed out for a run with G (and honestly I wasn't upset. Eating cereal in bed can be super messy).

Anyway, I met up with G at 7:15 for what was supposed to be a recovery 6 miles. We were shooting for a 10:44 pace. That didn't quite happen. Instead, we ran 6.22 miles at a 9:49 pace. Almost the same thing, right? When I got back I was greeted by four smiling faces and a bunch of gifts. Just take a look.

J got me a new watch from Soleus. You can check it out HERE. Dizzle picked me out a new purple Nalgene bottle (love those), Doodle got me a Reebok tank to match my aqua running skirt and Dilly picked out (with Daddy's help) hot pink and rainbow shoelaces. Obviously, they know what I like.

Once I opened everything, we all got ready for the day and headed to Busch Gardens (gotta love season passes). The weather was perfect. And thankfully, my girls had forgotten what a temper tantrum was. They were amazingly well behaved. Other than my sore quads, the day was ideal.

After six hours at the park, we headed to Carabba's for an early dinner. The girl's shared mozzarella sticks and pizza. J had a lasagna and chicken parmesan. And I indulged in lobster mac and cheese. BEST.MEAL.EVER. Seriously, if I didn't care about how incredibly horrible that meal was for me, I would eat it every day. I swear I housed the whole plate in less than four minutes. (But really, it's OK. Because I came home and powered through P90X Core Synergistics to make up for it).

It was an awesome day. Even if it's the only day of the year that the girls HAVE to be nice to me.
