decorations ...

Christmas is not my favorite holiday. Thanksgiving is. I think Christmas has too much hype. Too much pressure. Too much stuff.

Until this year, our holiday decor consisted of stockings, a tree, and two strands of lights around our door. I was cool with this. The girls? Well, not so much.

They protested and I tried to get crafty.

I sewed ribbon garland.

I made a wreath (or two).

The girls decorated "trees."

We made salt dough ornaments.

And figures.

Plus, my fridge got a makeover.

And of course, we decorated our tree.
Which Dilly, then decided to undecorate while J was napping 10 feet away from her. She's lucky I was feeling festive.

  3. Love the fridge decoration, great idea!
I am pretty obsessed with Christmas for many resons, none of which have to do with spending or presents. We have don the stressed out thing before and finally learned how to make it not stressful. Its just too hard to see everyone, so we just do what we want/what works for us and it's all ok!

  5. love the snowman fridge - that is awesome. i wish my fridge was white! i don't think a silver fridge would have the same effect.
i get stressed this time of year, and feel emotionally spent weeks before christmas. and we don't go over board or anything ... it is just too much. i do love the crafts and decorations though :o) christmas lights on the tree make me happy.

I always save crafts for the week prior when my oldest is home and they are getting antsy. But, they are already asking so I guess I can't win.

  13. Yeah, I'm not a big Xmas fan either... way too much stress and materialistic overtone. Halloween is my favorite - simply because I love costumes!
My girls enjoy making the dough ornaments too. Your fridge is killer creative!! I love it!

  14. Your girls will have such great memories of all the craft making! That is way more special than a trip down the Christmas aisle at Target!

  15. See I usually love christmas decorating, it was always the most exciting time of the year for my sisters, parents and I - but since I have been on my own, I havent quite found anyone as excited as me that I live with, so decorations kind of went on the back burner
