Three Things Thursday ...

Sign Up - Today is the day that Doodle has been looking forward to for months - Kindergarten registration. How did my baby grow up so fast?

Last weekend at soccer. Note: blue hair gets WAY MORE stares than pink.

Anyway, she's been talking about it incessantly and even started a countdown. I really hope she realizes that all it entails is me filling out a bunch of papers and her being "screened" for readiness/placement. We might need some cupcakes to deal with the let down.

On Film - I know you have been sitting around for months thinking, "TMB talks about her swimming so much. I really wish I could see what she actually looks like when she's getting her fish on."

Well, wonder no more. Thanks to the cell phone video taping skills of my girl, Sally, you can now watch 38 seconds of my attempts at not drowning.

Go ahead, critique away. Especially if you know the key to swimming 1500m in 14 minutes ...

Find Your Fit - Spring sports have started up again around here. Doodle is back playing soccer and as expected, she is kicking a** and taking names. Soccer (well, all contact sports) is Doodle's thing. She's strong and coordinated and a little ball of muscle. Oh, and there's that whole not liking to lose thing. It kind of makes her unstoppable on the field.

Doodle (#3) on a breakaway ...

Need proof? She scored three goals in her first game and cried that she didn't score more. Go figure.

Dizzle, on the other hand, opted not to play soccer this year. After four seasons of watching her struggle (she's pretty much the opposite of Doodle), we agreed that she needed to find something better suited to her.

Apparently, that's cheerleading. *cue shock and awe from this uber-tomboy*

Dizzle (far right) "looking cute"

first attempts at stunting (not sure if that's even a proper term)

She loves it and if we're being honest, she's actually quite good at it. Thankfully, she's also quite good at running and she can't deny that she has perfect form. Now, if I could only convince her that running is as much fun as cheering. It would probably help me cope better.

Your heart will mend on the cheerleader thing....we are in the same boat my almost 6 year old who I desperately tried to get to play t-ball, and soccer in the last five years finally found "dance" she made the competition team in the first three weeks she was doing it....putting stage makeup on my baby just about kills me every weekend....but shes awesome at it and loves it...I think god finds us tomboys gives us a bunch of little girls and then laughs :)She looks precious in her cheer uniform!

I was a cheerleader and runner in both high school and college. Great for balance, strength, and coordination. Love the blue!

I must admit...once I got over the horror of hearing myself talk about complete non contextual crap, I LOVED rewatching the video that came right after your fishing...."Should I punish you????"..."Noooooo"...."Should I punish your sister??"...."Yeahhhh"....kills me every time.

No swimming critique here...but I did briefly think I saw a snorkel at the beginning of the video...hehe.

And, I think you can run CC and Track and still cheer for football and basketball. No conflicts there...

I DID want to see you swim, you were right!

That's hilarious, who would have thought blue hair would be more shocking than pink.

I was a figure skater growing up but also did team sports. I think it was good having the balance of sparkles and some pushing and shoving.

Nice swimming. For someone who talks a lot about barely avoiding drowning you look very comfortable in the water.

Loved watching you swim. Right now I want to watch everyone swim to see if I can "get it" from watching. You looked great.

During the 50, I see a lady hiking with blue hair and immediately thought of you. She looked awesome too. I loved the fact that she appeared to be a bit older and was still out there being active and rocking her blue hair!

Swimming would probably be great corss training but I really only splash around when I am in the pool. You looked like a pro to me.

I was a cheerleader. It was great! We crushed at competitions! It stunk that way back when I was in school our county was just starting to view cheering as a sport...and allowing guys. Awesome for throwing/catching stunts! It was a great experience.
After 6 or 7 years of luke-warm soccer efforts, I wonder if my daughter wouldn't be more suited for cheering too. I'm glad you let the girls try different things. Nice job!

I was a cheerleader.. and now I'm a runner!! :) I think the tumbling helped shape how my core is-- literally. my tummy is super flat when no one else in my family's is.. Also. Stunting=right word. And.. I can have hubs come critique your swimmers form if you want-- he still holds a state swimming record.
