Three Things Thursday ...

Music - I'm sure that as a child, I listened to my fair share of children's music. Old MacDonald. Puff the Magic Dragon. On Top of Spaghetti. You know, the classics.

But that's not what I remember. What I do remember, however, is listening to classic rock. I remember singing Creedence Clearwater Revival and Crosby Stills Nash and Young in the backseat of my parents' car. Basically, I remember listening exactly what my parents listened to.

Because of that, I am the same way with my children. Yes, there are a few select Disney songs on our iPods, but for the most part, my kids listen to what we listen to. At ages 6, 4 and 2, they know all the words to Goodnight My Angel by Billy Joel, as well as every last syllable of Ke$ha's Take it Off. That's just how we roll.

So, I was beyond ecstatic when Dizzle came home from school yesterday talking about The Beatles and singing Heroes by David Bowie. So awesome. I'm loving her music teacher right now.

Dizzle's new favorite song:

Gangstas - I'm starting to think that my children are leaning towards living a thug life. First, there was this photo.

I mean, look at Dilly, she looks like a baby mobster. And don't even get me started on the Fedoras.

Then, I realized that both Doodle and Dilly had started referring to Dizzle as "K-Fa." What?!?! That's not even remotely close to her name, but it is kind of bada** and is definitely gangsta.

Compression - You know you're a runner when, you think wearing this is acceptable ...

Aspaeris Pivot Shorts, Tommie Copper Knee Sleeves, RunLove Compression Socks

That much compression should be illegal. Oh, wait. Maybe, I'm the gangsta my kids are learning from ...

Compressions = total gangster... especially if you leave the house like that!

We are kinda the same over here... My kiddos love ACDC, GNR, Pearl Jam, just to name a few. That kind of exposure comes at a price though. My 2 year old turns just about everything into a drum set. Needless to say, it can get a bit rowdy up in here. Welcome to the Jungle could be our anthem...minus the drugs and the deviant sexual content.

Love me some compression... not sure the person running BEHIND me does though! Bahaha! Super cute pix of you & the girls!

That's a hot look - the compression AND the fedora!

I know what you mean about growing up on your parent's music. I swear I know every Disco song of the 70's thanks to my father. Bring on Barry White and Sister Sledge. I know them all :)

Your girls are always so cute! Even as mobsters.

Oh wow - the compression combination is SEXY! I'm with you on the classic rock.. it's what I grew up listening to, and it's what I play for my kids. They love dancing while I play classic folk rock on the guitar.. somehow B-I-N-G-O just doesn't have the same soul. :)

Same thing at my house. In fact, my 17yo thinks of Tom Petty's "American Girl" as her fight song.

You can never have too much compression.

I was a 60's music junkie through college. I swear the 90's had the worst music ever. Thank goodness we have eclipsed that decade! My girls love cheese pop like Natasha Bettingfield and P!nk. And Ke$ha. Hellz yeah.

Your outfit is hot! Do you go to the store looking like that? :) Seriously though, love it! I'm sure your legs were happy too.

Your girls are so cute! I remember growing up on the Beatles . . . my aunt was a huge fan. My cousins and I would put on "musicals" and all the songs were the beatles.

You could achieve that same compression look with one simple purchase... thigh-high maternity stockings! LOL But that would NOT be gangsta!

Love the musical philosophy :)

i LOVE classic rock and listen to it on the radio in my car at least 75% of the time.

Spud listens to our music, usually country or rock. He quite likes Foster the People. We tricked him into listening to U2 by showing him the cover of the greatest hits album - now he requests "Buffalo music". Our concessions to him are the Cars movie soundtracks and the Disneyland anniversary CD.

I totally get your music tastes. I can sing every word to every song that either Meatloaf or Harry Chapin sang. My 9 month old also shares my love for Bruce Springsteen and Genesis! :)

Have a great weekend!

Too funny, talk about personality... Oh, and I'm not talking about your kids - I'm talking about you and your body compression! ;)
