- I'm too tired.
- It's too hard.
- I could never be/do this, that or the other thing.
And probably the number one excuse of all time ...
"I don't have the time to do X, Y or Z."
I hear it constantly. Usually, in the following form ...
"I just don't know how you have the time to do all that."
To which I ALWAYS reply, "I don't have time either. I make it."
This morning, I was faced with a dilemma: Go to Dizzle's field day or get my run in.
I really didn't want to miss either, but I didn't want to spend the whole day away from Doodle and Dilly, nor did I expect that my little sister was going to spend her day off watching my kids. (Yes, I technically have a live-in babysitter. No, I am not OK with abusing that privilege)
So, I did what any
I dressed in a super cute outfit (per Dizzle's request, as to not embarrass her too much) and ran the three miles to the school. I got there just as the opening ceremonies were beginning, right before this dance.
I can't express how happy I was to have gotten to see that. Then, the games began. I stuck around for a few, grabbed a picture with Dizzle and then ran the three miles home.

Sure, it wasn't ideal. And yes, I will probably be known as "that mom" who shows up to school events covered in sweat. But, I think it's a small price to pay to also be "that mom" who made her kid's day ...

As a fellow "that mom", good for you!! And the dancing was awesome. ;o)
It's what all the COOL mom's do!
Love it! I sometimes think I'm 'that mom'. I literally 'run' errands while my kids are at dance. I pick them up all sweaty and red-faced. My kids are never embarrassed, so I guess I shouldn't be either.
Is that blue hair I see? Too cool mom! Happy Mother's Day! You're doing a great job Tough Chik!
I want to be "that mom" (one day)! Well done!
I think you are a super mom for doing both...great example to all your girls!
You are awesome! I do the same thing with getting creative with fitting in a full time job, a toddler and Ironman training! Not easy but can be done!
AWESOME compromise! You were able to do both and that makes you SuperRunningMom!!!! What a fabulous example for your daughters and the others at that school!!!
Happy Mother's Day!!!
LOL, sweaty Mom that stays in the back of the room?????
I absolutely think "that mom" is the coolest one. Good for you and multi tasking. :)
I'm often "that" mom - good for you for getting it all in and making you kid's day :)
Awesome!
I often run to my son's baseball practice. He likes for me to be there and I need to get my run in so it works out for me to run there, watch then come home and we all enjoy dinner together.
Great job mom combining the two "events"...way to go!
I can't wait to be that mom. Athough the school will be more like 6 -7 miles away but I can easily push the jogger that far and back. It will be nice to squeeze in a visit with the daughter and a longish run.
Way to get it done!
Very cute. Awesome job multi tasking!
I think the principal will die of shock If I ever show up without workout gear on...
"That mom" is pretty awesome :)
The other moms don't know what's cool.
That dance was awesome - those kids can move WAY better than I will ever be able to!
Combining the two was the way to go! I combined touring Boston and running on a trip last weekend, so much fun.
