eight miles of stroller pushing (and a winner) ...

Usually, I am fortunate enough to get my long run in on the weekend. Although J travels a ton and is often away for part of the weekend, he ALWAYS gets up with the kids when I need to get my run in. He's great like that. OK, enough with the husband flattery.

Anyway, I am not going to be able to get my long run in this weekend. I FINALLY have my Distance Running Coach Certification this weekend. (I.AM.SO.EXCITED). It's a two day course that runs from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., an hour and a half away from here. And I am not staying over. So, that really means that I am going to be gone from 6 a.m. until about 7 p.m. both days this weekend. This equals NO RUNNING.

But, you know how I hate to miss hitting my mileage for the week, so I shifted some things around and headed out with G on an eight mile long run yesterday. Unfortunately, since we were running during the week, I had no choice but to bring Dilly along for the ride. And in case you hadn't figured it out yet, eight miles pushing a stroller is HARD. I mean, seriously, three miles pushing a stroller is hard.

Lucky for me, G was nice enough to alternate pushing the stroller with me each mile. It made the run better, but it's really not something I would want to have to do on a regular basis. It definitely made me appreciate my kid-free long runs. This is not to say that Dilly wasn't fantastic. Because she was. She barely made a peep for the entire hour and 20 minutes. And she was smiles the whole way. This is her when we finished. (She thought the squirrel across the street was way more interesting than me)
And G and me afterwards (we're not as cute).

But enough about my run, I know the real reason you are here. You want to know who won my Clif Bar and iTunes Giveaway. Well, there were 191 entries and thanks to Random.org the lucky winner is number 32 ...

The world is SO small...are you going to Newport News? I am too! I am bringing running clothes and plan to get in around 6-7 miles in the a.m. before the sessions if you are interested. I know of another guy from B-more who is going also, so this will be fun!

Oh, just paid attention and saw that you are not staying over! So that means no running.

8 miles with a babies is tough! I am in awe! I out grew all my running strollers...so now I have to get a sitter. Which honestly is harder and more of a pain...but when I'm running I'm happy!

That was nice of your friend to push the stroller for you!

And kudos to husbands who take care of the kids while we run, my hubs does the same for me every Saturday morning!

That's a lot of stroller pushing! Great job squeezing in the miles.

There was a woman pushing a stroller at the race I ran yesterday. She couldn't get it up the hills and her kid cried for like the whole first mile. Yikes! Glad to hear your run was much calmer!

Awesome! I'm so excited! Thank you. I'll get my info to you pronto.

Good job on the long run with the stroller, I can definitely empathize, although right now I've been getting up early, early to run sans stroller.

Thanks again!

I am always amazed and in awee when I see mom's with their strollers. I think it is HUGE proof that running is mental and mom's are tougher

I don't know where I'd be without my jogger. Oh, I'd be running on the treadmill, yuck!

The longer runs do get hard! Great job getting it in.

And congrats on your Certification!

I don't know if I'd be able to push for an hour (plus). I'm lucky bc when I take the boys out, it's a short run (heck all my runs are short right now) but if I want to go longer, my hubs comes with and pushes. :)

I never could do more than 1 mile with the double jogger and maybe three miles with the single. I'm glad to run without a stroller! Good for you for doing 8 miles! Nice friend too! :)

How fun to get away for two days. I don't know anything about a distance running coach - so basically you are qualified to help people train for long races? Sounds like fun to me!

not sure how you do it. seriously. Sounds like hell. hell on wheels.

Wow...8 miles with a jogger is hard core! The longest I've done is 4 with both of my boys and it just about killed me! :)

I know how it is running with a stroller. My husand is in the Navy and is always going out to sea. My longest long run with double stroller was 20 when I was training for the Honolulu Marathon. I have an 18 miler this weekend with the stroller.

How cool that you are getting your Distance running coach certification!!
Doesn't 8 miles with stroller = like 10 without :)
You are awesome!

Since right now I think three miles alone is pretty hard I can't even imaging doing it pushing a stroller- good for you and it's nice that you got a little help with :).

Good luck on your certification this weekend!

That's pretty impressive - 8 miles pushing that darn thing! I've only done a few 3-4 milers with the stroller. I agree that kid-free runs are more appreciated now!

I hear you. Pushing is tough but it does build your strength. I love what it does for my core.
