morning runs ...

I'm not really a morning person. I like to lay in bed under the warm blankets every morning with my kids (and J). It's not like I sleep in (we're usually up by 7), but the thought of getting up and moving any early scares me. Because of this, most of my runs take place on the treadmill during nap time or at night, after the girls are in bed. I wish I was motivated enough to be up at 6 and done with my run by the time everyone else in my house is waking. I force myself to do this on the weekends to get my long run in, but no matter how hard I try, I haven't been able to carry this over to my weekday runs.

However, yesterday morning, G and I were able to sneak in a quick four miles before J went off to work (this only happened because of Spring Break). G met me at my place (since she's sans kids this week). I walked outside to find that we had unknowingly matched our outfits. Here, look ...

I guess that's what happens when you share a brain. The run was easy, since it is taper week after all. But when we finished, I immediately said, "I wish I could do this all the time." So, my question to all of you is, "How do you do it? How do you get yourself up and running at those early hours?"

Oh, and for Meg, who sent me those super cute socks. Here is the entire outfit from yesterday. I know, I rocked it.

And don't forget to enter my giveaway HERE ... entries will be accepted until Midnight tonight!

I love my mornings! I started 5+ years ago. It took about 2 weeks to adjust but honestly I don't even need an alarm anymore. At first I started out by preparing the night before, that made it easier. Now it's so routine for me that I don't even think about it. Any start time later than 7am is late and typically I am rolling by 530 or 545am.

I wish I could run before hubby went to work. He leaves at 5am. I'd have to run in the dark.

my problem is that I love my cup of coffee right when I get up. SO, sometimes I get out for a run at like 7:30am since my husband is in the food industry and works more of a 9am-9pm day! I like getting my runs done with!

I'm not a morning person, but the thought of pushing the BOB is enough motivation for me!

I think about how great I feel the rest of the day, how much fun it will be to eat breakfast after working out and how much I hate dragging my a@@ to the gym after a long day of work!

I LOVE the outfit (as always) and too cute that you two were matchy matchy! Great job on the AM run!

Love, love, love the outfit!!!
On the days that I'm able to drag my butt out of bed I actually love morning runs. My early morning runs have to start at 4:45am so that I can be back in time to shower and get the kids to school by 7:20. So unfortunately they don't happen as often as I would like.
And I NEVER look that cute when I run in the AM!! Way to go!;)

Hi!! Checking out your blog...

I'm a morning person, BUT going out for a run I don't think I could do. Getting myself and the kiddies out of the house in time is challenging enough.lol

LOVE your running outfit!! you look super cute!!
My Girlfriend already told me she wont run with me if I wear my LONG running socks. BUT I love the socks!!

I so feel you there....I wish I could just drag my rear out of bed and do it! I've done it a couple of times and man does it feel good to just have it done and over with!

You TOTALLY rocked that outfit girly! I'm lucky if I ever match :(

I cannot, for the life of me, get out of bed any earlier than I do and run. Sure, I could go in later and leave later, but my brain shuts off somewhere between 3pm & 4pm, so I go in early so I can leave early to go home and run. Plus, I am not a morning runner. And, they say that mid-morning to late afternoon running is more beneficial to you, you're already warmed up. So don't beat yourself up :)

Your outfit is so cute! I wish I could pull off cute running outfits like that.

Mornings are hard for me; I can barely drag myself out of bed to get to work on time, so I imagine getting up even earlier to go for a run just seems increadibly difficult. I wish I could though, because I imaigne it would be a wonderful way to start my day!

Well, it helps to be boring and love to go to bed early, as I do! I get up very early most days of the week and as a consequence, go to bed around 9. But it seems to fit my natural clock, so it works for me.

It's hard to get out of bed during the week. On the weekends, I manage it by promising myself a nap later. If you can get the weekday thing going, let me know! :)

Yeah, I am NOT a morning person. But I've had to go back to morning(ish) runs this week because I was missing them. I prepare the night before so it's easier. Set out my outfit, iPod, shoes. That way, I don't even have to engage my brain in the morning. So far, it's working.

Your outfit was awesome...you did totally rock it!

I don't usually get up early for runs, but I do have to get up 3X a week to get in some swim training. I'm usually up at 4:45! Some days it's easier to get up than others and some days I shut off my alarm and go back to sleep. But, for the most part I like to get up early and get my workouts done before the day officially starts.

yes you did rock that outfit, super cute!!! i have a hard time too getting up for early runs, but with the weather heating up it will be a necessity. sometimes i will wear my running clothes to bed so i cant use the "i dont have time to get dressed" excuse (sad i know!) but usually just telling myself over and over again how much better i feel running in the morning and not having to worry about fitting in somewhere later in the day is enough to get me up and running.

I've done some morning runs, but they're really not for me. They are certainly not my best runs. In an ideal world I would run in the afternoon around 2-3pm.

You are too cute in your running gear! That is one of the reasons I run at 5 a.m., it is dark and no one sees my unflattering running attire! Although you inspire me to want to spend some money :). I'm also hoping to win a giveaway!

How do I manage to run in the early hours? Well I just find that is MY time and I enjoy it enough that I make myself get up! It makes me a better mom for the day knowing I took care of myself first. Of course, having a running partner keeps me honest and out there! I also don't like the heat with the sun - so even in the hot summer months at least the sun is not out at that early hour!

You totally rocked it...adorable!
I always feel so good when I start my day with a run...but, like you, since I have other options...I tend to be lazy about it.

So funny you guys matched! Love the socks too. :) I'm so back and forth on getting in early a.m. runs. I can do it on the weekends which is great. I love having it all done for the day so I can focus on my family/kiddo activities. If I do run in the mornings during the week, it's on the treadmill.

Mornings are so hard! I used to teach Jazzercise at 5:45 am and I got used to it after a couple weeks. Now that I've started running again I tried to keep my early morning habits up, but it was no use. Especially now that I'm running longer miles. I hate to think about how early I'd have to get up to get my 10-11 milers in...

Before I went back to school, I would get up before 4 so that I could be at the gym and working out at 5 before work. I don't know how I did it now, but I did it every day. I am appreciating a student's schedule very much!

You are the most stylish runner I know! Great outfit!!!

I just love the morning air. If I could I would do all my long runs in the morning but work and school (kiddos) just doesn't give me enough time. I love the returning daylight, I usually am up easy with the sun - just think this summer I will be able to squeeze in long runs since it will get light at 5 a.m.! Woot Woot! (but I still won't look as cute!

It is tough for me as well. Early morning runs off mean me driving to town to go to the gym. It just don't know if I feel safe, solo in the early hours?? But that is EXTRA gas because then I race home to DRIVE back to town to take kids to school. UGH!!! Being a runny mommy can be challenging. I love your outfit and always think DANG I want her legs. So do spill the beans what else do you do besides running to get fab legs like that?

Uh...could you please send me back those sweaty, stinky socks because they are SOOOOOOOOOO cute! Well, on you. I tell you girl, you're stylin' on every single run and you ROCKED this outfit. SO cute...never mind about the socks, they have "you" written all over them. Thanks for the pix, you made me smile from ear to ear :) !
PS, I'm an afternoon running and a mornin' snuggler too. Happy tapering this week.

I would LOVE to run in the mornings. but, I have to get up at 5:45 for work as it is, so I would have to be up at like, 4 am. But I do get up in the summers and get it over with!

Such a cute outfit! How funny that you dressed like your friend! I like to run in the morning but not too early! It is hard to get up earlier than you typically do.

Even your shoes matched! Rock away!

I rarely run in the morning. I don't want to leave the boys because they get upset if I'm gone and wake up Daddy (who crawls into bed from work at 3:00 a.m.). So, for the sake of family harmony...

Now that it's getting warmer and lighter, I might be able to get the jogger out before work. Let's hope.

I almost never run in the early morning, but I need to start because soon preschool will be out for the summer. ack!

Maybe if I dressed as cute as you, I could be as fast as you?

In the winter I NEVER get up early to workout- it is just too cold and depressing. Now that I've started running I think I would like to try out summer morning runs since it gets light here at like 2am :-).

LOVE the outfit - super cute!

I LOVE running in the morning! For me, it's just so easy to get out of bed and have running be the first thing I do (after a cup of coffee, of course!). I am not good with running in the afternoon or evening. I always feel like my legs are heavy as bricks later in the day. In the morning I just don't think about it - I just get up and go. I do make sure I get to sleep early enough to get 6-8 hours of sleep before a 5 AM run. Now I have a 5 month old and I've been having to do mid-morning running (around 10:30) which is okay. Since summer is coming, I may start getting up around 4:30 or so to squeeze a run in before he gets up, and before it's too damn hot!
