have you seen my bling?

The awesome Marlene over at Mission to A(nother) Marathon posted a fun challenge last week. She showed off her massive collection of race hardware HERE and asked her readers to do the same. And since I have NO PROBLEM bragging about my accomplishments, I am happy to oblige.

Now, I don't have a zillion medals lying around here. But I am proud of the ones I do have. Here's my entire half marathon and marathon collection. (L to R: '08 RNR Half VA Beach, '09 Patrick Henry Half, '10 Bermuda Half, '10 Disney Princess Half, '10 MAC Half, '10 Marine Corps Half, '08 Shamrock Marathon and '09 Richmond Marathon)

All of the half marathon ones are hidden away in a bag in the top drawer of my dresser.

But the two marathon medals are proudly displayed in a frame with race photos, which hangs in my bedroom (I took them out for this special occasion).

So, what kind of bling do you sport? And how do you show it off?

This is a fun way to show it off. I started making scrapbooks and I wanted to somehow stick my medals in there but they were too heavy (duh.) Right now they are in a box but after ever race I try to take a picture of anything I got there: the shirt, medal, bib, etc and then I post it with the race report and put it in my scrapbook.

My bling is all over my house; hanging on the bathroomdoor, the bedroomdoor, etc. I'm just totally not organised. But I look at it this way; since it is everywhere, I have bling to look at in every room, and even when on the toilet!

so fun! i turned lots of mine into christmas tree ornaments and they are pretty fun -- i took the giant neck ribbon off of them and tied thick red satin ribbon in their place about the right size for hanging on a tree. they are fun!! i have them stored away right now but i will get them out and take a pic for you. i have a bunch of others that are hanging in various places throughout my house (in the kids playroom, window sills, door hooks...) and i just haven't yet figured out how they will be stored/displayed...i am sort of an organization nut!! btw i really really love your new TMB Endurance Training -- you are amazing!!

I did the same kind of post as well.
I like Jessica's idea of turning them into ornaments! Brilliant!

I would show mine to you but they're hanging up at work. I work with all guys and I like to intimidate them. Plus when I want to eat an entire bag of peanut butter m&m's, I can say "I'm in training. I need the carbs." LOL!

I only have to medals so far ...
I think I would LOVE to put them up at work, just worried that someone might take them, since I work in an open concept and don't have an office.
Also love the idea of turning them into Ornaments!! Fantastic idea.

Nice bling. They are so colorful.

I run so many "cheap" races (oh, and ultras rarely have finishers medals) my medals are boring and many are dups since I like to run a race year after year. But maybe I'll bore everyone with them some day.

I like that you display your marathon medals!

Great display. I have box full of hardware stashed away somewhere. One day, I'll dig it out and go through it. I have last year's medals hanging on a bulletin board in my office. This year's are neatly tucked in a ziplock waiting for me to do something with them; I'm trying to be creative with pictures, medals, plaques, etc. or it just looks like a bunch of metal clunked together.

I hate to admit it, but all my bling are in three piles on top of my mantle all tangled up. I've been wanting to do something with them but have no idea what to do! Maybe you could come over and put them in those nice little shadow boxes for me?
And don't you wish the FULL marathon medals were just a little bigger? Like Flavor Flav clock big!? I'm just sayin'...

My girls have uses some of mine for dress-ups and are now m.i.a. They are definitely fun to pull out every once in awhile and remember the races! Tell me about Shamrock! I've been thinking about adding that to my schedule...
