telling it like it is ...

I take pride in the fact that I tell it like it is. Sure, sometimes I come off as harsh or insensitive, but at least I am honest. There is no sugar coating around here. It's just not worth my time.

And I'm like this with everyone. Even my kids get this treatment from me. "Deal with it," is an everyday phrase in my house. And it is starting to rub off.

The other day, my mom was saying that she was really tired because "it had been a long day." I shrugged at this, but Dizzle responded. Stating the obvious:

"Mimi, that's just silly. It is the same everyday."

You're right, Dizzle. It is the same everyday. There are always 24 hours. It's just being around you and your sisters that makes it feel longer ...

I'm another "tell it like it is" and I either get people telling me that they love that about me or people who don't like that I won't or can't coddle them. Coddling someone only gets them to wallow in their issues. Suck it up buttercup is my saying.

raising your daughter to be like you is NOT a bad thing.

I like to tell people I'm ruthlessly honest. You may not like it, but at least you can be fairly certain it's true. On that note, @ MICHEL- "suck it up buttercup" is my new FAVORITE saying EVER. SO cute.

The daughter of a family friend recently got in trouble at school because she told a little boy who was crying to "suck it up." I laughed like crazy and I don't think, were I a teacher, that any ridiculous policy would have made me discipline her.

The phrase most uttered in this house it "suck it up buttercup". Followed with loud exagerated sniffs :)

Just read the other comments. Looks like I am not alone in that one!!

oh man. I am so like you in regards to the "saying it how it is". Life gets way to candy coated sometimes. Just say it how it is and there's no room for misinterpretation. :)

You're awesome!

Seriously, I don't think boys could come up with those kinds of gems. Another reason I love having girls too!

I love the honest and direct approach. With me, it has really helped with my career.

Great one-liners in your house.
