sweet deal ...

In case you didn't know, there is tax-free shopping (school supplies and clothing) in Virginia this weekend. Hmm. That reminds me. I should probably go stock up on running gear ...

(Cue the sunshine and butterflies ...)

Sorry about that. Back to my point, I am all about a deal and was not going to pass up what is essentially a 5% discount. So, early yesterday morning, I loaded the girls into the car and headed to Target. I knew I could get all of Dizzle's school supplies there (even the four pre-cut tennis balls. Seriously, they are on the list.) And I figured that I would take her to pick out an outfit for the first day.

Right. So, about that. When we got to the Girls' department, all I could see was CLEARANCE. And before I knew it, I was picking up things left and right. I couldn't control myself. The deals were so amazing that we ended up going to a different Target later in the afternoon to see if we had missed anything.

Two trips and $80.52 later, Dizzle and Doodle had brand new wardrobes ...

Crazy, right?

In the end, we bought 22 pieces for $80.52. That is $3.66 a piece. And really, the deals were better than that. I bought each of the girls a sweater (at $10 each), so that they could wear the outfits year-round. Which means, we got 20 of those 22 pieces for $60.52.

And thanks my habit of purchasing items a size up when they go on sale, the girls have plenty of leggings and tees to layer the pieces when it gets colder.

Not to shabby for a year's worth of clothing ...

Cute stuff! Poor Shoo gets no new clothes (2nd child syndrome) and I'm not buying new pants for Jones until it's actually cold out because invariably he grows up or out in unexpected spurts and things don't fit right.

So, what did I buy with no tax? Running socks for awards for my virtual race LOL.

I LOVE deals like that! Just makes you feel so accomplished.
Am I the only one who doesn't know what pre-cut tennis balls are for?

Nice shopping. I'm not doing any until the snow flies - my guys can survive until them.

Pre-cut tennis balls are also called hush-ups. They go on the bottom of the chairs. Some teachers like them because they cut the noise; others have to have them because they reduce the vibration for hearing impaired kids.

Awesome. I'm not a big shopper but I did manager to get all of Bug's school supplies minus a book bag and some dividers that I could not find in only two shopping trips (Staples and Walmart). I was also able to get some of the clothes that Bug has out grown bagged up for when Monkey gets to wear them. I'll probably not have to do much shopping when it comes time for Monkey to start school.

You did a great job and it looks like very cute stuff!

I totally get the tennis balls and what they are for but I am amazed families have to supply them. We don't ask parents for anything so it always surprises me that so many schools do. We have many families who just couldn't do it.

Target is such a dangerous place! But you seriously made out. I'm sure they'll look adorable in it all.

Back to school lists are so odd. We don't have then here. That will be something I will have to get used to when we move to VA.

Maybe I'll just give you the kids sizes and you can shop for me! Great bargins!!!! I am a terrible shopper...ask my sisters. They are embarrassed of my skills.

Great job! I too am a major discount shopper. I hate paying full price! I might just have to hit up the clearance rack at Target this afternoon!

I loved living in VA and shopping their tax free sales. Now we're stationed in NY and they are proposing a 4% tax increase on clothing. WTF?

You got some killer deals!! I love shopping at Target.

Major bargain!Occasionally we have those over here at Target where I'll get t-shirts for my boys for $1:50. They're good days.

I love that you do "matchy matchy" outfits! My sister and I shop at Target also for the kids clothes and the girls have a lot of matching clothes, which is fun :)
