time to train?

Potty train, that is.

I have been avoiding all the signs. Dilly almost always tells me when she's wet. Either by taking off her diaper and throwing it in the hallway. Or by telling me that she's "stinky." She follows us into the bathroom and is quite fond of the words, "pee," "poopie," and "potty." I've tried to shut my eyes and ears to these things, but yesterday, she did something I couldn't ignore.

Just before lunch, Dilly was in our playroom. J walked by and noticed that she had taken off her pants and was only wearing a diaper. He told me to pay attention because she would probably shed the diaper too. I agreed and continued doing whatever I was doing. A few minutes later, I did a "hallway check." We were all clear. The diaper hadn't been thrown.

But, I may have slightly overlooked something. Sure, the diaper wasn't in the hallway, but that didn't mean that the diaper was actually on her.

That's when it happened. J walked into the playroom and saw Dilly totally naked standing next to an empty toy bin. The only thing was that the toy bin WASN'T ACTUALLY EMPTY. Yes, it was free of toys, but Dilly had decided to pee in it. Fantastic!

Apparently, she was sick and tired of waiting for me to potty train her. Go figure.

that is hilarious! be thankful; we're fighting with our son and potty training right now-- he's a boy and a first born. people tell me this is the potty training kiss of death.

i have no idea what i'm doing or what will help. if you have any tips, send them my way! :)

I know it isn't funny... but sort of. I think potty training can be up there with marathon training.

That is so awesome! I thought it was only little boys who peed in weirdly inappropriate containers. My 3 year old peed in the cat box last week. Sure there are worse places for him to pee, but the cat was less than pleased with this new turn of events.

OH MY GAWD, THAT IS HILARIOUS!!!

1. At least she took the toys out first.
2. If she's this ready, maybe training will be quick and painless!

I was so bad (or so good at potty training). I totally let them go at their own pace and didn't push it at all. I figured why stress about it? They'll be trained by high school, for sure. It worked!

Sounds like it's time to pull out the potty and big girl panties. my youngest totally potty trained herself because I was soo not in a rush to get it done i figured i had two years before kindergarten to get it done. S

I love a self-potty training child. My second did it all by himself while his older brother was learning. He was always competitive.

This absolutely hilarious and since my "baby" is now 20 I've forgotten some of the fun ways they prod us along. Thanks for the smile and reminder this morning.
