mile crunch ...

Once upon a time, there was a girl who ran 20 miles a week. And she usually struggled to do so. There was never enough time to get everything in. The kids were demanding. The miles were long. The weather was too hot. Or too cold. But, then she decided to up her game. To take her obsession to a new level.

She is still faced with the same challenges. Maybe even a few more. The kids became even more demanding. The miles weren't just long. They were really long. The weather was still too hot and on a rare occasion, too cold. But, she didn't care. She wanted to push herself. She wanted to improve.

So, she juggled when she had to. She scheduled all the time. And sometimes, even though she was tired, she had to do the "mile crunch." You know the "crunch" - when miles are run on back-to-back-to back days because that's the only way to make them happen.

Today is the end of my most recent "mile crunch." Three days. 38 miles. Two really tired legs.

But it's all worth it. We are headed to Rhode Island tonight and my "mile crunch" has allowed me to run less on vacation (less being a subjective word, of course). Two 5 milers and a 20 are all I have left for the week. And then, I will have two days IN A ROW off.

Which is reason enough for me ...

You are way more dedicated than me. ;o) I'm happy that I've upped my mileage to 30 per week at this point (but I'm also not training for a marathon).

Enjoy your two days in a row off!

I so understand. I am always moving around my run days due to commitments and such. It is amazing though because if it is a 'priority' then we some how manage to find the time. Way to go on your 38 miles in 3 days!!! I am not quite up to your mileage yet, but I am slowly getting there. I have 36 on tap for the week but that is over 4 days.
Enjoy your trip to Rhode Island.

Wow! Are you jumping to 68 miles in your week?? Holy Heavy Miles! You can have that one.

I was reminding myself to step back after last weeks 57.5. I felt over trained and I don't have a race for almost a month! I don't want to be running a 90 mile week by the time a race get here.

Enjoy your vacation.

I am still so impressed with your planning and organization. You should add teach that to your TMB Endurance services, heehee! No. Really!

Are you at the point where you'd hire a babysitter just so you can go on a run?

I read that on someone's blog recently. Their kid was home sick for the day, but they needed to run, so they paid someone $6/hr so she could get 15 miles in. Thats an expensive run! Would you do that?

Even machines need to be turned off and the occasion maintenance. Glad you're getting some rest; just don't get antsy about not running.
