1. Do you like running? And ice cream? Well, then you probably want to get yourself to Richmond today so that you can run the Moonlight 4 Miler with me this evening. I have been waiting for this race ALL YEAR. It is my first 4 miler (can you say instant PR?) and rather than race tees each runner is served Brewster's Ice Cream at the finish. Which is probably a good thing, considering it is supposed to be over 90 at race time.
2. I've got some other races coming up on my calendar as well. First, is MCM Mama's "Mama Goes Masters" Virtual Race. I am planning on running the 40K and hope to tackle it this Saturday. If that doesn't work, I'm going to try it again later in the month.
The other race on my calendar is the Pink Power Sprint Triathlon on August 22. Like 10 days from now. And I have a few issues facing me. To begin with, I haven't been on my bike since July of 2008, when I raced my last sprint tri. Oh, and did I mention that July 2008 was also the last time I swam. (To be honest, I didn't really train for that tri either.) Good planning, right? But, wait. It gets even better. That bike I mentioned, totally has two flats. And have I made any attempt to fix them? Nope.
But if nothing else, I am going to kill the run ...
3. Remember that Deshler Designs giveaway I have been running? Well, it's time for a winner. There were 151 entries and thanks to random.org, the winner is #24 ...

Those odd distance races are great for PR's. Ran a 4K a couple of weeks ago; strange distance, but a PR! Guess that I won't smash that PR in a long time, though...
I had no idea about any of these events TMB! Thank you for sharing. (I heart Brewsters ice-cream too. LOL)
Best of luck on that PR!
Odd distances are fun because you have no idea what to expect. You'll fly through 4K I'm sure - especially if ice cream is waiting.
that sounds like a great race. ice cream would be the ultimate reward for me.
being from richmond, are you doing any of the races for the richmond marathon weekend? I'm hoping to run the half, and am trying to recruit friends to run as well and to tour the city with me for the weekend.
Oh man, ice cream at the finish? Who needs a race tee when you can have delicious frozen treats? Good luck with the tri! You will TOTALLY kill it on the run.
Ice cream will be PERFECT post-race! Have fun!
Um, you have a triathlon coming up? I love how you are so casual about it. LOL!
new to your blog and loving it. I too am a mom, runner and everything else.....
YAY 5k Rae - she rocks.
An ice cream finish sounds WAY better than an ice BATH finish!!
Well that was an awesome suprise! I was like "Hey! That's me!" Thanks! I'll send you an email!
And the race today sounds AWESOME! I love ice cream and brewsters! Too bad the one's in Erie closed down! They have the best turtle ice cream and strawberry shortcakes!
I'd like any race that ends with ice cream!! Have fun!!
Sounds like a fun race tonight. It will be a hot one so enjoy the ice cream!
Thanks for the reminder about the virutal race. I need to see when I can get the distance done. (Maybe after the 100)
Congrats to your winner.
A PR and ice ceam? What a great idea!
ice cream? YUM!
Well, you may want to at least fix the bike...but good luck at the tri either way! And enjoy that ice cream!
Ice Cream at the end of a race is awesome! Although I always have a week stomach when I run. Good luck with the 40k!
Ice cream? Much, MUCH better than a race T. Enjoy, and have fun at your tri :)
Ice cream and running! I love them both!! Do you have the "will run for ice cream" bondi band? LOL. It would have been perfect for tonight's race!!
Enjoy that ice cream!
I love random distance PRs! Have a great race!
Love running, love ice cream and will also be signing up for MCM's race (4 miles are on the schedule). As for the Nike technology it is a rubbery wrist band, with watch capabilities. Very simple programming that can be uploaded to the Nike website for analysis. It is about $60 and works with a pod you attach to your shoe if you don't already have a Nike shoe that has a pod holder built into the shoe. Great alternative for newbies not ready to invest in a Garmin type watch. It calculates pace, time and distance pretty accurately. Hope this helps.
