my 35 items ...

I had quite a few requests yesterday to see what 35 pieces I decided to keep in my wardrobe. So, here it is. (Note: as a running coach, I do not need "work" clothes, so the vast majority of my items are casual.)

My Closet
My Pants DrawerMy Shirt DrawerThe items are as follows:
  1. jeans
  2. navy pants
  3. black dress pants
  4. pink shorts
  5. khaki shorts
  6. plaid shorts
  7. black skirt
  8. blue baby doll top
  9. pink Nike tee
  10. yellow Nike tee
  11. purple Nike tee
  12. black Nike tee
  13. black Punk Rock Racing tee
  14. blue Reebok tee
  15. pink Disney Princess Half tee
  16. white TMB Endurance Training tee
  17. gray MTT tee
  18. pink Running Skirts tank
  19. polka dot tank
  20. green/blue tank
  21. short-sleeve white hoodie
  22. Running Chics gray thermal
  23. long-sleeve lime/white striped hoodie
  24. NYD 10K long-sleeve tee
  25. Indianapolis Marathon long-sleeve tee
  26. RLAM Half Marathon long-sleeve tee
  27. navy/white striped sweater
  28. gray short-sleeved sweater
  29. brown turtleneck sweater
  30. khaki/white striped sweater
  31. beige sweater
  32. charcoal gray sweater
  33. brown striped dress
  34. blue dress
  35. brown tank dress
And just in case you were wondering, I donated 44 items, which consisted of 4 pairs of dress pants, 3 pairs of jeans, 2 pairs of shorts, 4 skirts, 4 dresses, 7 sweaters, 15 tee shirts, 1 tank top and 4 dress shirts. It scares me to think of the amount of money I spent on all of those excess items ...

Fun post! I'm jealous of your wardrobe... I wish I could get out of dressing "business casual" day in and day out. SNORE!

Look at all that closet space! You have definitely inspired me to scale back. I don't think I could get to 35 - maybe 50 ;) good work!

No shoes? Where are the shoes?
And I want to run SF in July with you. Are you bringing your family?

Good for you!!! I need to simplify big time. I wear the same things over and over again, I just need to follow your lead and get rid of all the stuff I never use!!
Everything looks so organized!

Great work. I'd love to have such a tidy wardrobe and drawers - maybe it's time to start getting rid off stuff. You've definitely motivated me.

Oh my gosh - that is great. I am going to try and work that into my 55 goals. I know that I won't be able to get down to 55 pieces of clothes . . . But I could probably get rid of 55 pieces of clothes.

Thanks for sharing! I wish I could cut down that drastically, but my workplace is definitely work formal, only sometimes casual. Given me some inspiration to cut down anyways! Congrats again!

I am so impressed with this! I have over 35 tee shirt alone. No kidding. And, your thinking correctly, most NEVER get worn. I still have my youth softball tee from our championship season!

I NEED to do this! but wonder how low I could go with number of items since I have to work, relax and workout. They all seem to need different clothing. There MUST be a way. Thanks for sharing this. I plan on putting this into action in my own house. (S'ghetti girl honestly already has less than 35 items since she "re-wears" everything)

Really cool. I'm motivated to clear out and most importantly donate some things.

wow. i am truly impressed. maybe it's because i am SO SICK of my maternity clothes and can't wait to be back to my old wardrobe and all the things in it, but i don't know if i could do this! i love clothes too much...but i do a big purge annually and usually whatever i have not worn in the past year GOES. my sisters take most of it but the rest i take to goodwill!

Thank you so much for sharing this. As a work from home gal, I would be able to do this... problem would only come with the changing season. :)

Go you!!!! You should link up to "Tackle It Tuesday" every now and then and share. Great purge and organizing, girl! You go!

Good job. I have dones several purges the last couple of months including clothes and household items. Feels better to let that stuff go.

Ummmm.... soooo... yeah, about that.

Remember I said yesterday that I simplified and took off a big load to the Salvation Army? That LEFT me with 10 pairs of jeans. And that's not counting my khakis, tights, capris, or dress pants.

I've been trying to wrap my head around this all day LOL. How do you survive with only one pair of jeans? I wear jeans every.single.day that the weather is below 65 degrees. And I hate doing laundry, so despite having a fairly robust collection, I still end up sometimes without a clean pair.

I am feeling motivated to simplify my closet, but I can pretty much guarantee it'll still be at least twice the amount of stuff as yours. ;o)

Love it. I know I couldn't scale back that much... but it did inspire me to clean out my closet today... I now have about 10 garbage bags of toys, clothes, and other stuff to go donate!

You are totally inspiring. I can get rid of 44 items and have a packed closet still. I am all reved up again to simplify my life--thanks and way to go! LOVE your blog BTW!

Wow! That is an accomplishment. I've tried to pare down my wardrobe before and then get "bored" and feel the need to add again.
I think simple = better.

I think I have about that much...not by choice but my losing weight and having no money to replace items.
