some days I feel like complaining ...

99% of the time, I am happy-go-lucky. I don't really let things bother me. Especially when I can't do anything about life's little annoyances. But some days, like today, my perspective gets a little skewed and I feel the need to complain. Maybe putting it all out there will help me regain my positive energy ...

Dizzle has been running a fever since Thursday. Sometimes it's 101 and sometimes it's 105. She complains of random ailments, but nothing major or consistent. The doctor suspects a UTI and put her on medication while she waits for the lab results. Dizzle hates the taste and we basically have to force down her throat. I just want her to feel better. I'm kind of over the whole thing.

Weekends make my house messy. And I don't like mess. With everyone around, I never get to tidy up like I do when they are at school and work. Tending to a sick kid has put me even further behind. I'm not a fan.

On Friday we leave for J's little brother's wedding. J, Dizzle and Doodle are all in the wedding. It's probably going to be super cute. Well, except for the part where I have to handle Dilly once she realizes that she's the only one NOT in the wedding party. She might only be one, but she doesn't like to be left out. And she much prefers J to me and is likely to make a dash for the alter if I don't hold her tight enough. It should be a blast.

Since we are leaving in four days, I need to front load my miles this week. I know that I can probably squeeze in a five miler or two while we are traveling, but my longer runs aren't as likely. That means I am planning on running 39 miles in the next four days. And I ran 26 miles this weekend. You do the math, that's a lot of distance to cover without a rest day.

I have to pack for our trip. Enough said.

My iPod died while we were on vacation. I took it to be repaired yesterday, but of course they couldn't fit me in. So, now I have to go back this morning (with two kids in tow) to see if they can do anything. Hopefully, I walk out of the Apple store with a new iPod. One that I did not pay for.

I've got some life stresses that are worrying me. I don't really feel like talking about it, but it's kind of weighing me down. I wish I could just let go, but I'm not really good with the unresolved.

Hmm. Not really sure that helped at all ...

Hang in there T, you are a busy, strong, lady who faces challenges head on and always succeeds... I hope Dizzle feels better soon...It will be cute if Dilly throws herself into the wedding, and if the wedding party doesn't think so then shame on them for not given her a part :) Have everyone help you pack....and life is life I bet it will get better in time!!! Hope that helps some!!!

Hi T,
Everyone has these days. I find its just best to admit the worries, fear and stress outloud (or on paper) and then just let them go so they don't get the best of you. You are not "one of," you are in fact, the strongest woman I know. Hang in there lady, keep that head up and let all those worries make you run that much harder!

Much love,
Lisa

If anyone can manage this kind of stress, it's you. Seriously, you're stronger thatn you might think you are at this moment. You'll get through it. Promise. In the meantime...you might want to take something with you to distract Dilly from the alter, the flowers, the pretty white dress...etcetera. ;)

Hang in there!! I'm with you... unresolved stress + me = not a good thing (aka, more gray hairs as of late). Everything always works out in the end, though. Remember that! :)

Sorry to hear you dealing with so much..but you are a strong person and I have no doubt you'll manage it all with grace. Keeping my fingers crossed for a week that passes as smoothly as possible!

Maybe now that you've listed it out, it'll help to compartmentalize and tackle one thing at once :) Hoping you get to accomplish all you need to this week!

I've just recently started following you; what are you training for that you ran 26 miles this weekend? You're a rock star!

This too shall pass.

Don't stress about the miles. Really. Don't hurt yourself trying to fit them in. Just sayin'. I mean, I doubt that would happen to you because you've been a runner for a while, but still.

Sorry you're down. Hugs to you.

I feel you on all levels of this post - hope it all works out.

(I had to deal with WAY too much "why can't I be in the wedding?!?!" and it was only my husband in it. Hope you and Dilly make it through without TOO much drama...)

Just when I think you are super human you show that you are just like the rest of us.

As a big "mothering" type person, I wish I could just fix whatever is bothering you. All I can say is I have a few years on you and I think a few life challenges too. There has always been a way. At times I haven't enjoyed the path that I had to travel but I have never walked alone and I was always provided with the means to bear the burden.
If knowing that you are not alone in your struggles helps, know that you are far from alone. You share such a great example to so many. Thank you for letting us all see you struggle at times too.
As for your miles, no problem there. Just don't overdo to simply get a couple more miles. I know your need to follow your plan but a few miles knocked off will not undo your years of fitness.
Dilly? She will do great knowing that she will get Daddy back and join the center of attention after the service.
I'll be thinking of you. I pray you will enjoy the wedding.

Hang in there. I know it can all be difficult. I know we don't really know each other, but if you need to talk, I'm here!

I definitely feel your pain with the gross meds. That sucks, so much, and it really isn't even made better by knowing it's good for them. :(

Hang in there, it's bound to get better soon!

Hang in there and feel free to complain to us as much as you want, especially if it makes you feel better even if only a bit. Sending some positive energy your way and overall general happy thoughts. Hope things turn around for you soon (and that this week goes more smoothly than you are anticipating).

Don't worry about the miles, really, so what if you don't do your miles this week? My DD had a fever of 106 for 5 days, it was driving me crazy and I didn't run that whole week. My house was a mess b/c I was tending to her. Remember what's priority, running will always be there!

Sometimes, you just need to let things out. It surely helps me at times to tell people how pissed I am, upset, sad, frustrated, etc. Usually by the time I'm done letting it out, it's gone and I'm over it. That or I go for a workout and force the stress out with the sweat. :-D

Best of luck with the wedding. I hope you all have fun!

Sorry things are tough right now. I have the same issue with my 2 year old and medicine. Spitting it out, making a mess, barely actually swallowing any. I am jealous you will be surrounded by family and friends though this weekend...

Hang in there. Hopefully, she'll feel better soon and things will turn around.

I sent you a time sensitive email. Hopefully, it will make you smile.

You do sound stressed. Hope the running can help with that. The wedding sounds great and hard! Bribes for Dilly? Food to eat while she is sitting? I know you have many more ideas than I do. Good luck both at the wedding and getting through the week.

Lisa said...

That sounds like a lot of "junk". I certainly hope your daughter gets better in time to travel and be in the wedding. I do hope it's a wonderful family time. That's a lot of running- be careful - you're our running mentor so you have to be careful! Good luck with your personal stuff weighing you down - reach out to get help from trusted friends (maybe not the whole blog world)- it'll make you feel better. Hang in there - I'll be thinking of you and your family.

Nothing wrong with a little complaining. Sorry your Monday was yucky! Extra running at the beginning of the week will help get the stress to go away.

I hope she feels better soon. Hugs to you!

Hang in there! Hope Dizzle feels better quickly.

Good luck getting the miles in, but don't hurt yourself. You've got a lot of weeks yet until the marathon. One week of messed up running will not ruin the huge pr you are going to get.

My Monday sucked. Completely and totally. So, I'm truly feeling your pain.
