mean kids ...

Most days I love to be around my children. They are happy. And pleasant. And kind. On those days, temper tantrums don't exist. My voice doesn't rise above a conversational volume. And I don't stress eat. I love those days.

But sometimes, my children challenge me. Heck. They are just plain mean. All of their anger and frustration get taken out on me. And by the end of the day, I've had enough. Yesterday was one of those days.

In the last 24 hours, I have ...

... been slapped.

... been bitten.

... been told, "I don't want to see you. Get Daddy!" (on more than one occasion).

... been unable to get my three-year old out of her locked bedroom (yes, she really locked herself in because she was mad at me).

... said, "I love you," only to be told, "I love Daddy."

... been flat out ignored.

... been peed on.

... been asked, "When I turn five, am I going to look OLD like you?"

Basically, it was an AWESOME day. And like any mature adult, I felt the need to dish back a little to my children. So, when I was given the opportunity to join in on Dizzle's soccer practice last night, I took it. And unlike the other parents, who "let their children win," I played Alpha Dog and put my children in their places. I showed them who's the boss and left it all on the field. (I even accidentally whacked Doodle in the head). I know, real grown up of me.

Do we have the same 3 year old? Mine told me last week when I opened her door in the am, "NO! Not you! I want daddy!" Alrightie, good morning to you too. One day they won't be like this. One day they'll hate their father too. lol.

hahaha good for you! seriously I love that when some parents would either go sulk, scream at their kids, or discipline them in some equally detrimental way, you put your little ones in their place with some friendly competition! You rock!

I am still laughing! Of course they are kids and doing what kids do but man they do need to be put in their place after days like that! Right there with ya sista!
The good mommy that you are did it on the field :)

You are not alone!! All of us with kids have these days

My seven year old told me "mommy, you've got a big ol butt" last week!!

He really wasn't intentionally being mean, just telling the truth in his eyes...ouch!!

But on the good days, when they say " mommy, I love you"..it makes it all better for me!!!

Days like that...is when we can be thankful how short days really are. 24 hours, then we get to hit "reset" and start over in the morning. Hopefully today will be a better day...

Good luck having a better day. When my 2 1/2 yr old son starts to get all "Papa this, Papa that" and being mean to me I flip it on him. If he asks, scratch that, demands anything of me, I'll say, "Oh, no, we'd better let Papa get that", or "we'd better let Papa do that". He catches on quick, then starts whining for me to do things. He doesn't stop whining, but at least I am back into the problem solver role.

Wish I had the whole soccer outlet! LOL My favorite is pretending I am going to tell on him when I think he is being really bad... "I am just going to have to tell Papa you were not being a good listener today." He takes his man-to-man conversations with his Papa about behavior pretty seriously.

All kids go through those days. And you have it times 3! I am glad you had an outlet for your frustration.

My little one usually only wants me over Daddy when he has hurt himself or wants to nurse. But he distributes that hitting equally between hubbs and I! ;-)

I am in total awe of anyone who is a parent. I love my nephews but even they try my patience....and they go home!

I've said it before and I'll say it again. As someone with no kids, being a mom is THE HARDEST JOB on the planet. Kudos to you. Not only are you doing the hardest job on the planet, you have multiple kidlets AND you rock the running world.

Keep it up!!

TOTALLY feel you on this one. Yesterday was one of my roughest days as a mom. Ahhh...the joys of having a toddler.

Don't mean to laugh, but the peed on part is really quite funny. Ah parenthood! We have all been there and will be there again and again. Go get a good run in to work it off!

Posts like this are my favorite. It reminded me that my kids are normal and my reactions are too. At least you were able to get a little "release" and find the humor in it! I love it!!

LOL! I don't get this too much anymore (I'm sure it will come back when they hit teens), but I'm also not sure I could beat Jones at soccer anymore...

My 4 year old pushes me and calls me names; then, minutes later, he is in my arms looking for hugs. Kids!

Wow, I'm not the only mom that these things happen to! I just pray that my five kids don't do it all on the same day. Usually, I have one or two acting up and one of the little ones will say, "See Mommy, I'm being good."
