preschool, I will miss you ...

Yesterday, on the way to the girl's school trip, Doodle said to Dizzle, "I don't want you to graduate from preschool."

I got choked up. It was so cute. Well, at least until Dizzle replied. She turned to Doodle, rolled her eyes and said in her snarky tone, "Oh. I am definitely graduating."

Sisters.

Speaking of preschool, tomorrow is the last day of the year and I am genuinely sad. For no other reason than I get SO.MUCH.DONE during those four hours. I run. I catch up on all my errands. I run. I clean up my house. I run. Wait, did I mention I run?

Over the past few weeks, G and I have built up our mid-week long run to 9 miles. It's a glorious 9 miles that I spend chatting with one of my very best friends without the interruption of our children (Dilly, although there, is surprisingly quiet and well behaved). From 9:30 until 11, we put one foot in front of the other. And unless we can figure out a way to bring along our six children that wouldn't kill us (i.e. pushing a triple stroller) or drive us crazy, our mid-morning runs are OVER until September.

Which means that we will be running SUPER EARLY. And if you didn't know, I'm not a fan of early. But, we have no choice. Knowing this, we tested this new run time this morning. I met G at 5:45 a.m., in a location central to both of our houses, for eight miles. It hurt to get out of bed. With less than six hours of sleep, I wasn't really ready to run. But I did it. And I survived. In fact, it really wasn't that bad once I got moving. And I was quite energized afterwards. Well, at least until 2 p.m., when I hit a wall. I needed a nap hardcore. But, my kids don't nap. Which means, neither do I. I'm thinking I'm going to be tired a lot this summer. So, when does school start again?

Sorry to hear you are now an early morning runner but atleast you are fresh and you get it done and over with. I have been bringing DD to school earlier in the morning to an extended program just so I have enough time to run. Isn't being a mom fabulous ;)

I used to have to be in the pool at 5am so I know exactly how you feel. But look at it this way, if you run earlier you beat the heat!

at first I was excited about pre-school ending (we are down tomorrow) I thought "wow to not have to be anywhere on those mornings awesome!) Then I was emotional that my baby was going to be done with her whole first year of school..(where does time go?) and now as tomorrow approaches I feel like "ohhh crap that means I have to wrangle both of my kids all summer long with no break! haha! No quick runs with Itty bitty but instead 70 pounds of jogging stroller.......running playgroup anyone? anyone? please!

We should try to get together this summer!

I promise that after a few weeks you will get use to it and get over your midday wall.

That is why I didn't start running until I was in my 50's :) Not really, but it is easier to organize a running schedule around work, than around kids!

I'm on the other end of the equation and can't wait for summer! Now I have time to run!

oooo i feel your pain! my kids have one more week left and it has been a mixed bag of emotions for me. you are so lucky that you have such a great running buddy who completely gets you and whose life parallels your own in so many ways. isn't it wonderful that you can rely on one another to help get you out of bed all summer for those runs?! i need to find someone around here like that :O)

Hopefully those early morning wake up calls will start to feel like second nature. Great job on the run!

Even though I work full-time I'm always sad at the end of the school year because that means my childcare prices go up. Instead of paying $30 a week for someone to watch my oldest, I have to shell out $85 a week. Kinda puts a kink in the wallet.

Anywho, I love to run in the mornings. I try (and since you read my blog, that's a big try) to make sure I get up sometime around 6:00 a.m. to get my runs in. I hope you can get adjusted to the earlier morning runs.

That is rough! I wish you luck on your early morning runs. I love the early morning after being up and awake for a while but getting out of bed is so hard.
I feel your pain mama!

Early morning is me time! I get up at 4:00 most mornings, walk the dogs, go out for a run or ride, then shower, eat, and off to work at 6:15. Many mornings I don't even see my family, which is usually a bummer, but also sometimes pleasant to have a quiet house. :)

cher, bebes. So cute. My oldest goes to big girl school next year. I don't think she realizes yet that she won't get to see mawmaw & sarah (her pre-school teachers) everyday. She will be very sad. But she'll love knowing all the kids.

I feel for you! Summer vacation plays havoc with the life of a mom! I'm silently dreading the day when my kids get home for their vacation.

Good for you for still getting your run in.

You'll totally get used to this in just a few weeks I promise! I was never an early morning person, but now I am up at 5:15, even on rest days! Now that's sick. lol

You crack me up! Those girls are pricelss - I swear I could just imagine that conversation going on!

And, I feel for you on the early morning runs! You are a much, much, MUCH more brave runner than I! Up at 5:45 TO RUN? I leave the house then, I may be funtioning enough to operate my car, but legs for running would be another story! Ha! Good luck buddy!

Oh who are you kidding? You love being a bad a## and rocking out those miles while the rest of us are in bed (or in a rocking chair semi-attached to a little one). And we are all secretly jealous that we are not as bad a## as you so that we could be out there getting it done before the sun came up!

Great job! You can do it!

Ugh - feel your pain. I get so much done and I only have one morning a week free. I love those mid day runs, tho.

Yep, I'm an early morning runner too, for all those reasons. And I also get the drowsies mid-afternoon. It's rough. Just don't let yourself sit down, 'cause then it's all over!

Hahaha that is too funny! I have two younger sisters so I totally understand that conversation! :)

I'm right there with you, except I need to find someone to run with. At least you have G.

Oh, and I have to be out there by 5am at the latest, as Beer Geek leaves for work at 6:20. It's going to be a long summer.

I get sooo sleepy in the afternoon too. I know I should go to bed earlier to make up for the early morning start but after spending my whole day with the rugrats its nice to have some time after the kids are in bed.

Good luck with those runs... school is only a few short months away. :P

I'm looking forward to summer holidays and having my boys 24/7. Fortunately, I have the flexibility to bring them with me when I run or leave them with Daddy, who usually starts early afternoon. But, I'm counting on some early morning runs, sans enfants.
