(A six-year old soccer playing version of me.)
And then I picked it up again after Dizzle and Doodle were born. For a long time, soccer was everything to me. I played on both my school team and a travel team from the time I was 11. My family spent the weekends, both Spring and Fall, traveling to soccer tournaments. Looking back, I now realize what a HUGE commitment it was for my family. But, I loved it and I am really thankful that my parents let me do it.
Dizzle started her fourth season of soccer last night. Doodle starts her first season on Sunday. We are going to be living at the fields this Spring.
Anyway, I was just as excited as she was. OK, maybe not. She was really pumped.
On the way there, she told me that she wished soccer was everyday, because she "loves it so much. It's the best sport. Well, other than running."
Have I mentioned how much I love that kid?

How could you not love that kid?!?
I love that she wears awesome socks like you do!! Soccer is the best sport other than running.
SO awesome! I am a soccer junkie, too. Played it competitively through high school and then did club in college and also played after college up until I got pregnant with Abby - an outdoor womens team and an indoor co-ed team (my husband was our goalie!). I miss it! I tried getting both Abby and Will to play but they are not into it yet...I hope at least one of my three kids will have a passion for it like I do. This spring we will be on the t-ball fields instead. While baseball is not exactly my favorite sport, I am just excited that they want to play any sport at all and will support that...but secretly I hope to convert at least one of them to soccer in the next few years!
So great...team sports (and running) are so awesome for girls. I try to remember (when Ali is playing basketball) that it's about the kids, but I get so nervous and excited in the stands.
Great post, great kid, have to agree soccer or football as we call it in England is a great game, must be a nice feeling to pass on your passions to your kids.
soccer is a sport I could get behind. I love watching it...playing it not so much. Maybe I would not that I can run and not be dead. lol I played softball for a long time like that though. :)
Glad to hear you have activity-addicted children! What a healthy addiction.
Awesomeness. Love her socks!
omg, I live, I mean, love soccer too!!!! I'm only hoping that my youngst son wants to do soccer because it'll break my heart if both of my boys forego the joys of soccer.
I played soccer for a year when I was in fourth grade. It made me wish I had started playing when I was younger so I could be as good as the other girls. But anyway, your girls are so cute!
Awww. How exiciting. Love the socks.
S'ghetti girl starts back up on the 28th. We are making the same headband for the girls on your team! I know if I let her see this post (which she asks to "see" the girls when you blog about them) she'll want me to find her the same socks. She won't think hers are cool enough. Did I tell you she's copy-cat?
So cute!!
Holy crow, that picture is intense!! HA!
I loved soccer too! But my soccer socks were never that cool! And we weren't allowed to wear skirts! and omgsh I thought that first picture was Dizzle!

OMGSH and I just realized you had a Captain band on...at 6? man you've always been bad ass
She is so cute!
She is so darling! It melts my heart seeing our kiddos doing all the things we've loved doing! Warm fuzzies.
Love that last pic! She is so excited!
What an expression! What an attitude! Sure beats a lot of the kids I teach who spend the weekend inside playing video games!
Love the socks and headband...just like Mommy!! :)
Perhaps I'm jaded, but there's no way your daughter made that comment - especially the running part. I don't think the universe allows ANYONE to love running until like 26, 40, 80, or something. :)
OMG she's too cute! And she's rocking a skirt! Atta girl!
I played soccer from the time I was 5 through my freshman year of college. I wish I had stuck with it. And now I just feel like I'm too busy! I hope to have a daughter who plays some day (or a son... I'm not picky)
The apple didn't fall too far from that tree, did it? :)
My kids are starting soccer this spring, too. But not until May, since we still have lots of snow here and things won't really dry up for a couple of months.
Love the excitement on her face!
Too cute! Fine. I am scared of soccer. I read some stuff on the brain aspects of it and freaked out. However, they are some cute outfits!
I played until I was 18 too, and planned to play in college but needed a break. And by break I mean 4 years playing rugby. I went back to soccer once I graduated, at the same time I picked up distance running. I've played on and off since then and will always love it.
And, there's nothing cuter than little kids pumped about soccer!
