solo weekend ...

In case you haven't picked up on it yet, J travels a lot for work. And due to the nature of his job, he often travels over the weekend. I'm not particularly a fan of his traveling. Especially, weekend travel. I always thought you got a 9-5 job, so that you could do that - work 9-5. Yeah, not so much.

Anyway, this weekend, J was in Denver (he's flying back now) and I was in Virginia honing my multitasking skills with our three very loud and very, um, spirited children in tow. (Note: my spirited children were amazingly well behaved this weekend. I am beginning to believe someone brainwashed them.)

Somehow, and I'm honestly not sure how, I accomplished EVERYTHING on my to-do list over the past 48 hours. And I did it all while managing to keep my children alive, fed and uninjured. I deserve a freaking medal.

This weekend I (we, if you want to include Dizzle, Doodle and Dilly too):
  • Cleaned the house
  • Washed and folded all of the laundry
  • Attended ballet class (OK, that was the girls, but I was their driver)
  • Balanced our household budget and input all of our spending into a spreadsheet
  • Read Body by Design
  • Drafted my training plan for Mid-April until the NYC Marathon
  • Researched an upcoming project
  • Wrangled three children through Dick's Sporting Goods to purchase soccer equipment
  • Successfully took three children to a restaurant without backup
  • Single-handedly managed a bathroom trip in said restaurant (childless readers - you'll understand when you have kids)
  • Made and shipped 20 TMB Endurance Bands
  • Baked cupcakes for Doodle's Birthday (it's tomorrow!)
  • Ran 16 miles on the treadmill
Did you catch that last one? Oh, you did. Well, did I mention the part where I averaged a 9:01 pace (faster than goal marathon pace, might I add)? Or the part where the last four miles were at a 8:49 pace? Sweet, right?

It's OK. Be jealous. I completely understand.

My hubby travels sometimes to. They do 4 week rotations of travel to Conn. and so he's gone every Tuesday/Wednesday for 4 weeks at a time. His last rotation was in January and he got delayed many a time by the snow!! I don't like it either but it's good for him to go so I can't complain! You got a lot more accomplished more than I usually do so KUDOS!

I'm not sure if I'm more impressed with the bathroom trip or the 16 miles on the treadmill...

either way, you are a SUPERSTAR!

I hang my head in shame...I think I read 2 chapters of a book, ran 10 miles, and did maybe 2 loads of laundry. I'm a slacker!

Haha. And I was thrilled when I ran a SINGLE mile at 9:01 pace. ;) I'm just amazed you can run like that and still have energy to do the rest. I was about useless after 7.5 miles yesterday.

You are awesome! My husband works crazy long hours so I typically do a LOT with my 3 in tow, I TOTALLY understand the serious props you must get for the restaurant AND the potty with them. Oh and Dicks, good job. We don't have one here in Savannah, but there is a huge one down in Jacksonville. My husband and I always joke about taking a field trip down to the "Big Dicks" ha ha, yeah, we are both in our 40s, it's still funny.

I'm tired just reading all that. You definitely deserve a medal. Or at least a cupcake!

I am jealous. How on earth did you read a book with the kids and no backup! Crazy awesome!

as you might have read. I had glue on my a** and accomplished jack squat and 10 miles. This is what happens to we when I limit my running.

Bathroom trips are the worst. There are so many things that childless people don't understand - haha. Seriously I hope to one day forget how hard it is taking three kids into public restrooms. Congrats on all you got accomplished - SUPER MOM!

I totally understand... my husband is a track coach (indoor and outdoor) and is gone on 2-4 day trips from January through May, usually 3 weekends a month. It is tough! I find that I have a much better attitude when I get my runs in and am able to get everything else done. Great job this weekend! :)

You absolutely ROCK! I got pretty much nothing done this weekend except my long run. Priorities...
My hubby is gone a lot on military deployments - I find I'm a super organized and productive person during those times. If only I could maintain when he comes home...

I can beat that...

I drank 2 Guinness before 10 am.

I drank my weight in champagne between 2 and 5.

I drank ridiculous amounts of red wine between 6:30 and 10:30.

Oh, wait, it wasn't drinking contest? Crap, I got nothin' then.

A week late, I know...I'm a new follower and I think the angels from Heaven sang as I read your completed "to do" list. My mouth dropped at not only, "successfully took 3 children to restaurant WITHOUT backup" and then "bathroom???" Wow.

And now that I have officially turned into a creepy stalker, I'm going to get more inspired.

Thanks!
