tattletale ...

Doodle has a temper. She's quick to overreact. And when she gets angry, she screams. Oh, and did I mention that she doesn't like to lose? Because she doesn't. Doodle has been known to flip the game board once she realizes someone else is going to claim victory.

And you know what else? It's NEVER her fault if she loses. Either you "got lucky" or you "made her lose." Makes sense, right?

On Sunday, Doodle was playing a computer game. I was sitting next to her checking my email. And although I wasn't actually paying attention to what she was doing, she turned to me and said, "Don't look at me. When you look at me, I lose."

I shook my head and told her I wasn't looking. She went on playing and I got back to what I was doing. And then it happened ...

Doodle: "Damn."
Me: "What did you just say?"
Doodle: "Damn"
Me: "Doodle, that is not a word that we EVER say."
J (from the other room): "What did she say?"
Me: "You go tell your father what you just said."
Doodle (screaming at the top of her lungs): "You ALWAYS try to get me in trouble. STOP BEING A TATTLETALE!"
Me (laughing while trying to keep a straight face): "I'm not a tattletale. I'm your mother."

Sometimes, I can not believe this is my life. Where the heck did I get these kids?

Oh... my son Brock has flipped a game board or two.

And their word was shit... yeah, and when daddy asked them where they heard it... "Mommy" was their answer... great. My reply to my husband was that it could have been MUCH worse, right?

We are dealing with 6.5 year old whining... and I HATE whining... it is worse when he is old enough to know better.

This post and Jen's comment cracked me up.

Yesterday a lady at work told us about her granddaughter's newest thing... she did something over the weekend that her granddad was getting on to her about, and she (3 years old) looked at him and said, "Do you want a piece of me?!"

I love it because I am living that life too. Yesterday after school my six year old could have said..."mom, will you make me some koolaid?" I hate that stuff but there was a packet in the pantry that had come free with something. Instead she said, "If you don't make this for me, I will whine until you do." I said, "Have you met me before. Whining does not work with me. Whine away!"

You should really start putting a book together for everything your girls do and say.

Hahaha. I am SOOO going to have kids just like this.

My mom's favorite story about me is when I was 3 and my granddad took me for ice cream. I dropped my cone on the ground and yelled, "Aw, shit!".

At least they are using it in context! :)

And I bet it was your fault that she said that word.

I'm not sure where you got them but you go to jail for trying to get rid of them! And after years when they leave on their own...they come back. Just warning you!

LMAO!

When Shoo was little, he exclaimed "damn it". I explained that it was not polite to say that. A little while later, he yelled "damn". I reminded him that it was not appropriate. His response? But, mom, I didn't say "it".

Ah! Love that girl! Just remembered a story my mom told about a time she asked me what I wanted for lunch when I was little. She had asked if I wanted a hot dog and I replied with, "Yea, a big f*%#@ing one." She said she almost died trying to hold in laughter while paddling my butt!

Yeah, maybe you should work on not tattletaling. :) Ella tattled yesterday. Only, I was glad she did. She came in to tell me Brenton was coloring all over the seats in the car. With pen. Not the washable kind. Lovely.
