and on and on and on ...

I've said it before, and I'll say it again - My house is LOUD. My children NEVER STOP talking. And their volume, well, that leaves something to be desired. Recently, things have gotten worse. Dilly is learning more words everyday and she is not afraid to let us know that she has something to say. Yesterday alone, I recall three occasions where I had to LEAVE the room because my ears were about to bleed. I'm not quite sure why they talk so much (or so loud). Maybe they feel like screaming their words is the only way to get heard. Maybe they feel like they are in a constant battle with their sisters. Or maybe they just like to hear the sound of their own voices ...

Wanting to know what was behind the vocabulary vomit that consumes our home, I asked Dizzle why she never stops talking. And this is what she told me ...

"I just really like to talk. I like to hear my voice. I just really enjoy talking so much. I do it all the time. I never stop talking ..."

She kept going on, but I just walked away. Apparently, she's not really talking TO me anyway. Maybe I will just get some earplugs ...

Glad to hear it isn't just my house - even with a fever she is so LOUD! I used to think it was because I talk all the time, but at least I am saying something meaningful! LOL!

I have a rule now too though: No useless noise. (You know randomly making sounds with their mouth!)

Ear plugs- iPod - same thing!

I have to say one of the things I am always saying at school is Use Your Inside Voices Please. Then someone models how to do it to be sure we all get it. We do. And then everyone goes back to talking loudly. They are not being bad, just loud! I try to explain there are too many of us too be so loud! Oh well. I can actually take that. Repetitive noises are what push my buttons. Once years ago I was sitting next to my boss at a meeting and she kept tapping her pencil. I eventually reached over and stopped it. I obviously felt comfortable with her but still...! Good luck with the volume!

LMAO - my kids only talk in a shout. Their volume control button is broken, as is their pause button. I keep telling myself I'll miss these days when they are sullen teenagers and I'm no longer living in stream of consciousness hell. ;o)

My little brothers are the same way! I'll interrupt their LOUD conversation, and they'll reply, "I'm talking to my brother!" Yeah, you're talking TO him, but the entire house can hear you!

With 3 it's probably louder than my house. I'll send you some extra ear plugs. At least as they get older you'll know ALL the words to the lastest kids songs and be able to recite every commercial, if the girls turn out like mine!

Oh, I sooo know what you are talking about. My boys are so loud it drives me crazy! The worst is when we're in the car because there's no where to go to escape the volume! :)

Ah yes, as a fellow mother of 3 girls, I know where you are coming from!! Mike and I have to leave the room all the time, because we can't hear each other!!

I am one of seven, my house was very loud whilst growing up and some of my siblings are still loud, don't think they've got out of the habit of shouting to be heard, even as adults when everyone is together the volume increases dramatically, just like the old days!

Oh good lord yes. I never thought of myself as needing QUIET TIME, but now I swear, I'd go insane without it. I do not let the TV be on most of the time, not because I fear their slow metamorphosis into brainless automatons, but rather because I hate hate hate the noise. I'm seriously thinking about taking my hubby for a getaway for our anniversary (8!) next month just for some peace and QUIET.
