rebuilding my insanity ...

Yesterday morning, I had my three week post-ob appointment for my shoulder. The doctor was impressed with my superhuman powers and said that my shoulder is healing just fine. He's cool with me cycling and running (although he would prefer if it was on the treadmill) and he expects that I will get the OK to return to ALL of my normal activities in about three to four weeks.

Before I left, I made sure to reconfirm that I am allowed to do anything that does not hurt. He was good with that and just asked that I try to avoid heavy lifting with my right arm. Easy peasy.

Since I got the go ahead to continue doing what I have been doing, I decided I needed to reformulate my training plan for NYC, since I am basically back at ground zero. Two weeks ago, I ran 10 miles. Last week, I made it 19 - a far cry from the 40-50 miles I was averaging prior to the crash, but I'm getting back into it.

After a little deliberation, I came up with this ...

A nice and easy build back into the modified Hanson Brothers plan I set up weeks ago. And if you look really closely, you might notice not one, but TWO 26.2 races on there. Just SIX days apart.

That's right, I am completely insane. On Sunday afternoon, I registered for the Richmond Marathon. I caved to the peer pressure (the whole posse is running it) and decided to go for Maniac status. I'm kind of feeling a little off my rocker right now ...

You're training schedule is crazy! I love how SF is right in the middle of it, and you aren't taking a day off before or after. Wow!

I'm so glad your doctor is agreeing with your recovery plan!

Nice and aggressive. I hope you're not planning on running both at MP, because you're really opening the door to injuries otherwise. I'm guessing running with the Posse is going to be tough to keep the pace down, so I'd run NYC at more of a training pace. But that's just me. Good luck!
