live like the honey badger ...

After I wrote my post about beauty and self-worth on Tuesday, I got what may be my all-time favorite comment ...

Initially when I read it, I couldn't stop laughing. All I could think about is this video (if you haven't seen this, take three minutes and watch it. hilarious!)

But, then I realized that Jason was right. I am a honey badger. And I am proud of it.

I don't give a sh*t about what others think of me.
I have enough confidence in myself and my abilities to quiet the naysayers.
I defy expectations and chart my own course.
I don't sweat the small stuff.
I am tough.
I am strong.
I am powerful.
And I raise my pack of little honey badgers to be the same way.

Armed with the realization of my inner animal, I've decided that starting next Friday, I will write a series of posts on the topic I get the most emails and comments about.

Confidence and self-esteem.

Otherwise known as, "How to Live Like the Honey Badger"

I have a list of subjects to cover, but if you have a specific question or idea for this series, please leave me a comment or email me at racingwithbabes (at) yahoo (dot) com.

I know my inner animal. What's yours? Why?

You know a less confident person would have taken that comment the wrong way...but not you! How about you talk about teaching your girls confidence and self-esteem. My oldest daughter is getting into the pre-teen age and I want to make sure she survives with her self-esteem intact.

I can watch that video thousands of times and not stop laughing. For me I know I have to be All-HBd when it comes time to get on the trainer for 3-4 hours. I can't worry about anybody else in that time frame and just go for it.

In real life I will do what I want when I want to do it because when the final bell rings I don't want to have one regret about coulda, shoulda, woulda.....those are not words I want to ever say.

I am excited to see what this series of posts brings.

Is that not the best video ever? Ben is the "honey badger" on his football team. He is the smallest, but he is the stealthiest, toughest, doesn't give a sh$t about anything 10 year old ever. His best quote after a tackle was "remember the honey badger don't care!"
YOU my friend are a true honey badger!! Never change because it is a great way to be!!

Great description of you (and I mean that in the nicest way possible). :) You obvioulsy have a ton of self confidence which is so admirable. I think a lot of us spend way too much time worrying about what people might think which can be very limiting. You rock!

Awesome! Jason is so right. I am incredibly jealous of you and the fact that you are raising your girls this way. I have major room for improvement in this area so I am really looking forward to Fridays! Thank you!

I love that video!! And I definitely agree - you ARE a honey badger.

Here's a question for the "How to Live Like a Honey Badger" list: For those who would like the confidence of the honey badger, how do you deal with a momentary lack of confidence? What do you do to get through that moment and emerge without withdrawing?

Ok. Thank you. I have been living under a rock and had never seen this video and really have been clueless about why people talk about the honey badger all the time.

Now, thanks to you, I totally get it. Just laughed so hard I almost cried. That is insane!

I love your confidence. I love your attitude. I love the way you raise your girls to be confident and strong and to stand up for what they believe in.

I can't wait to read your posts on this topic!!

That is a great analogy for you. I'll look forward to your series. I'm sure I could learn a thing or two in the HB department.

I'll throw in a question.
How do you demonstrate such confidence without seeming arrogant? Or do you not care if strangers see you that way?

(Why I ask this is your post goes right along with my next post about I movie I am watching and the arrogance of a "set" of people in history. Not that I think YOU are arrogant. You are confident because your actions in being overtly confident do not hurt others. I think that might be the difference.)
