Three Things Thursday ...

10 Day Pledge - I'm not sure how I stumbled upon it, but last week I found the blog, 100 Days of Real Food. It chronicles a family's quest to eat real foods in a processed food world. On the site, they pose a challenge to readers, a 10 Day Real Food Pledge, to be exact (There are other mini-pledges too.)

As soon as I saw it, I knew I wanted to try, but I was going to need a partner-in-crime. I pitched it to J. He wasn't feeling it. So, I did what any sensible person would do. I threw the idea out to my running friends and luckily, a few took the bait. Beginning February 1st, we will eat no processed food for 10 days. I am confident that it will be harder than I think. If you are interested in taking the pledge too, you can find all of the "rules" here.

Three - My baby, Dilly, turns three on Saturday. How the heck did my baby get to be three? And while we're at it, how do I have an almost seven year old? No longer having an infant or toddler in the house makes me feel so much older than turning 30 does ...

Early Risers - J's new position has him working insane hours. Not only is he going to be traveling pretty much every day in February, but yesterday he went into the office at 8 a.m. and he didn't get home until almost 9 p.m. It's crazy.

In order to get some quality time with the girls, he has taken to waking them up a half-hour earlier than usual. This is awesome. I don't get to sleep in, since I workout in the morning, but it has seriously dropped my stress level. In the past, J has slept through most of our morning prep, leaving me to manage the girls by myself. This results in me wanting to punch someone by the time we leave the house for the day.

When everyone gets up earlier and J handles breakfast, it makes my morning so much easier.

I signed up to take the 10 day challenge too. Thanks for posting about it. For months my house has been switching to no processed foods and we have not touched fast food in months. Now my hubby may not go all in with this as he does love his sweets, but I will be jumping on it!! I am starting on the 1st as well. Good way to start out a new month.

Totally get & understand your "Early Risers" part. My hubby leaves for work before anyone even gets up. I always breathe a sigh of relief when everyone is finally where they need to be... until I see the forgotten permission slip or something... Darn!

Happy Birthday Dilly!

You know the challenge might not be as hard as you think,it kind of sounds like a clean eating plan (sort of along the lines of Tosca Reno). If anyone can kick that challenge's booty, you can. I'll have to check it out and maybe jump on the bandwagon if I think hubs won't notice that I have cleaned up his meals. Dude loves his processed food ;)

Love that J is making an effort to spend more time with the girls - and that it has an added benefit for you. WIN WIN!

Hmmmm...interesting challenge. I might have to try it. A friend of mine is really into the Paleo movement, which is all about non-processed food. I bought the coconut oil, but that is about it.

Remember, you are only as old as you feel. ;-)

Good luck! We don't eat a lot of processed foods, mostly because they have so much sodium and I'm not supposed to have sodium, but it's tough!

I'm glad you don't won't have violent urges in the morning anymore :)

Aww...I know exactly what you mean about your girls getting older! My youngest will be 5 in May...5!!! And, my oldest will be 7 in July! Where did the time go? I cannot believe how big they're getting!

I've seen that food challenge too, and thought about doing it as well. We don't eat a lot of processed food, but I still think it would definitely be a challenge!

This is making me feel bad for my hubby since I'm the first out the door. At least there is only one!

You are going to do great on this challenge! I'm joining in!

Love how your family works together in all kinds of situations.

Of course that 10 Day Pledge is right up your alley. I think I saw it on Yahoo too.

Happy Birthday to Dilly on Saturday.

I am going to check out that 10 day pledge for sure, but I can't think of anything I eat that is processed....oh wait recovery bars from Oatmega....damn. Time to make my own......

This just made me laugh so hard:
This results in me wanting to punch someone by the time we leave the house for the day.
