Three Things Thursday ...
Unfortunately, or maybe fortunately depending on how you look at it, Dilly is working the system. She's peeing pretty much every five minutes or so, just to get the marshmellow "reward." Yeah, I'm being played. Now if I could only convince her that she's not going to get sucked into the toilet if she goes number two ...
Thunderstorms, revisited - After missing my run yesterday morning due to thunderstorms, I had to find the time to squeeze in my run little by little throughout the day. And that's exactly what I did. Between 7:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m., I logged 8 miles over 5 runs with an average pace of 8:46. Apparently, trying to squeeze in a mile before someone freaks out will make you run fast. Also, it will prove that there is ALWAYS time to work out.
Virtual Race - In case you missed it yesterday, starting next week I will be hosting a Virtual 5K/10K. Entry will be open to anyone who has made a contribution to my NYC Marathon Fundraising (HERE). Plus, as an incentive, there will be some great prizes up for grabs from Everyday Endurance, Tommie Copper and Gu Energy. So, if you want to play along, now's the time to donate. Look for more details tomorrow.

Three Things Thursday ...

And I only regretted attacking Busch Gardens with a 6, 4 and 2 year old a few thousand times. OK, I'm kidding. Mostly.
Change in Plans - As you may recall, I have been following a modified version of the Hanson Brothers plan from Runner's World. I love this plan, but, and this is a big but, a six day a week schedule leaves little room for flexibility or rest. I started feeling tied to this schedule and I refuse to sacrifice my family life to get my runs in. It just won't happen.
So, I made another slight modification to the plan. I added a rest day by making Tuesdays "double days." Easy run in the morning. Speedwork at night. This means I can still get all my miles in, but I also gain an extra rest day (or the ability to throw in an unscheduled run, if I'd like). Now my plan looks like this ...
Talk about trial and error.
Free Stuff - Have you entered my wicked awesome Running Skirts raffle to raise funds for Grassroot Soccer (My NYC Marathon Charity Team). The winner will take home a COMPLETE OUTFIT from Running Skirts. Shirt. Skirt. Socks. Gear Bag. Winner takes all.
All you need to do is make a donation HERE. For every $5 you donate, you get one entry. All of the details can be found HERE. And as an extra incentive to donate, if you make a contribution TODAY, I will give you five (5) bonus entries to BOTH the raffle and my Aspaeris Pivot Short Giveaway which ends tonight. So what are you waiting for?

Three Things Thursday ...
Anyway, I vowed to add the speedwork back into my schedule once the San Francisco Half was out of the way. And that's exactly what I did. Last night, I hit the treadmill for 800m repeats ...
After a quick warmup, I did 6 x 800m @ 7:30 @ 0% incline (equals 7:49 pace on the road/track) with a 400m jog in between. By the last one, I was definitely spent but I felt strong. And if we are being honest here, I was more concerned for my treadmill than for me. I'm pretty sure he's on his last leg. Boo!
And then this morning, after a full 9 hour rest, I met the posse for hill repeats. 1.5 mile warmup, 7 repeats (.13 mile) @ 10K pace (splits: 0:58, 0:59, 0:59, 0:58, 0:59, 0:59, 0:57), 1 mile cooldown. Basically, I am a human metronome. Be jealous.
Speedwork, you've got nothing on me ...
Running Skirts - In case you missed it, on Monday, I posted my latest raffle to raise funds for Grassroot Soccer (My NYC Marathon Charity Team). The winner will take home a COMPLETE OUTFIT from Running Skirts. Shirt. Skirt. Socks. Gear Bag. Winner takes all.

Nuun - As you know, I am running Hood to Coast later this month with Nuun Platuun. The lovely Kerrie T. made our team this sweet logo ...
Basically, I am in love. And if you'd love to try Nuun, here's your chance. From now until September 30th, you can save 25% on your order from Nuun HERE. Just use the code "nuunplatuun" at checkout.

Running Skirts Virtual Skirt Basket ...
And as you probably know by now, I am a huge Running Skirts fan. At last count, I had 32 of their skirts, in addition to several tops and five pairs of RunLove Compression Socks. Basically, I am a walking billboard for the company (Note: I wore their white running skirt in the August 2011 issue of Runner's World).
With that said, it only seemed natural that I team up with Running Skirts to raise funds for Grassroot Soccer. Thanks to the generosity of the Running Skirts twins, Cindy and Christy, I have an AWESOME Virtual Skirt Basket to raffle off.

Three Things Thursday ...
Since Friday night, I have logged 103 miles (63 bike, 40 run) over 11 workouts (and I still have today's run on tap). Knowing that I would have a hard time getting all my runs in while we are gone, I "front loaded" my schedule this week to leave the fewest (and shortest) runs left to complete during our travels. It's worked out quite well, but when bed time rolls around I am DEAD TIRED. I feel like I could sleep for 12 hours. Which of course is never going to happen ...
No Shut-Eye - Dilly, being the angel that she is, thought it would be a fabulous idea to wake up at 1 a.m. last night, and not go back to sleep until 5 a.m. Obviously, she didn't get the memo that I AM DEAD TIRED.
Every 10-15 minutes for four hours straight, Dilly got out of her bed, walked to her door and yelled for me (J was out of town).
Pure insanity.
Needless to say, I am not in a very good place right now. She, however, got up for the day at 7:15 feeling fresh and rejuvenated. I'm sure by 2:15 p.m., I'll have a monster on my hands.
Loot - I am running with Team Grassroot Soccer and have committed to raising $3000 and I need your help to reach my goal.
Right now, I am hosting an AWESOME fundraising raffle HERE. There are 9 fabulous prizes left and I will be selecting the NEXT 3 WINNERS TOMORROW. You know you want to enter. All you have to do is make a donation HERE and then leave a comment on the raffle post. Easy peasy.
And, if you want another shot at winning a sweet prize, check out my current giveaway HERE. Thanks to OnlineShoes.com, one lucky winner will walk (or run) away with a new pair of Brooks.

Three Things Thursday ...
And since I love the photo so much, I will be shelling out $250 to purchase ALL of the photos taken of us during the shoot. There were two different set ups and about a zillion and one photos. I am so excited to see them.
Shoulder - Speaking of the photo in Runner's World (expect me to talk about this for a while), it was taken 13 days after my surgery. Bet you can't even tell. Anyway, tomorrow will be 2 months since the crash and as of this morning, my doctor has given me the "all clear" to resume my normal activity. And thanks to my active lifestyle, he thinks we can forgo the PT route. I am so psyched about this.
He even said I could try swimming, but to be prepared to doggie paddle. Doesn't he know that's the only stroke I'm good at?
NYC Marathon Raffle - Tomorrow morning I will be selecting the next three winners in my NYC Marathon Fundraising Raffle HERE. There are still 15 awesome prizes including items from Tough Chik (the maker of the shirts the girls and I wore in Runner's World), See Jane Run (race entry, people!), RoadID and Allied Medal Displays. All you need to do to enter is make a donation HERE and then leave a comment on my raffle post.
As of right now, I am $90 short of being HALFWAY to my $3000 goal. And I need your help to get there. Anyone who makes a donation today, will get 10 BONUS ENTRIES in the raffle. And if you happen to be the person who gets me to $1500, you will get 20 BONUS ENTRIES. So what are you waiting for?
Thank you for your support!

Three Things Thursday ...
And if you were wondering if you missed the post where I talked about this opportunity before today, you didn't. There were only two or three people who even knew I applied. SURPRISE!
Mouth Drama - On Friday, Dizzle lost her front tooth.
It was a long and arduous process with lots and lots of tears. But we survived. (It was rough there for a while). Now, her other front tooth is hanging by a thread.
I tried to get a good picture of it, but it doesn't photograph well. Trust me though, it's migrating towards the center of her mouth and is starting to stick out instead of down. It's a total snaggletooth. And the only thing sillier looking will be the GINORMOUS gap she'll have once it actually falls out.In other mouth news, on Tuesday night, Dilly was running around on the hardwood floors in our home with socks on both her hands and her feet. I was in the office (just off the kitchen) when I heard her hit the ground next to the refrigerator. When I went to see what happened, she turned to me and screamed. When she opened her mouth, blood poured out.
Dilly had bitten a gaping hole in her tongue. It was close to needing stitches, but the risks of the sedation were higher than that of waiting to see if it healed on it's own. She's fine, by the way.Giveaways - If you haven't entered my HUGE NYC Marathon raffle HERE, do it today. I will be selecting my first three winners tomorrow. All it takes to enter is a donation to my fundraising HERE. Go ahead, all the cool kids are doing it.
And now for the winner of the Sportline Heart Rate Monitor and Pedometer. There were 174 entries and thanks to random.org, the winner was #107 ...
Allison @ Just Tri and Finish
Congrats Allison! Please send me an email with your mailing address so I can send you your prize!

3TT: things J enjoys edition ...
At the time, J wasn't sold. Although he ran two half marathons last year (Marine Corps Historic Half and Richmond), I didn't know if I could convince him to join me. But then, yesterday morning, when I checked my email, I found THIS GROUPON for discounted race entries to the Amica Newport Half Marathon (5K and Marathon are included too).
Jackpot.
I told J about it, expecting resistance. But instead, he didn't fight at all. In fact, he said that the $37 dollar price tag for the Half Marathon was too good to pass up. (I actually think he said that it would be silly not to get it if it's that price.)
And with that, we were registered. J's 3rd half. My 12th. We may or may not run together. The course profile is favorable for a PR and although it's just three weeks before NYC, I might just have to go for it.
(Note: If you want to run the Amica Newport Half Marathon, the groupon HERE is still available through today.)
GADGETS - As of yesterday, J and I have been together for 9 years (just about a 1/3 of my life). On the 25th, we will celebrate our 7th wedding anniversary. Most years, OK, pretty much every year, we don't get each other gifts. We just try to go out to dinner together without the kids and that's that. Neither of us really NEED anything and I like to show him how much I love him EVERYDAY. He's my best friend and the love of my life and I don't need flashy gifts to know that.
With that said, this year we did something rather atypical for us. We got each other gifts. And we went big. J got me the new Droid Charge to replace my BlackBerry (it's basically a palm sized computer). This phone is INSANE and I'm completely obsessed with it (J is too).
And I got J an iPad. Um, yeah. I am pretty sure I can do no wrong for a VERY LONG TIME. On a similar note, I may have lost my husband to a piece of machinery FOREVER.
ME - J pretty much loves me more than anything (well, aside from our kids) and he wants to see me succeed in whatever I do. So, he thinks you should all head over to my NYC Marathon fundraising page HERE to make a donation. Then you can check out my HUGE raffle HERE to be entered for some sweet prizes. There will be 18 winners in all, with the first three announced next Friday.
And if that wasn't enough, a donation will earn you extra entries in my current giveaway HERE. You know you want to. Giving back makes you feel good. And a donation to Grassroot Soccer will help fight AIDS in Africa. Come on, all the cool kids are doing it ...
