you might say I'm addicted ...

Hi. My name is Tonia and I am addicted to running skirts. Well, that's not true. I am only addicted to the skirts from RunningSkirts.com. No other skirt will do. I own 16 of them. Don't believe me? Just look ...

It's OK. You can stop drooling now. I know they are a beautiful thing. But please, try to control yourself.

I'm not quite sure how I became the single largest owner of RunningSkirts in the continental U.S. (outside of RunningSkirts owners, Cindy and Christy), but it happened. Oh, wait. Now, I recall how it all started. It was with a single skirt, navy/white. I had been running for five months and was about to run my first marathon (yes, I ran my first marathon with less than a year of running experience). I needed the perfect outfit, because if I wasn't going to run fast then I was at least going to look good. And look good, I did (I know you wish that was your quad).

That was the beginning of the end. I would never look back. In the two years since my first marathon, I have never run a race without wearing a RunningSkirt. And I would estimate that they are my outfit of choice in 98% of my training runs. Basically, I am a walking billboard. And I am OK with that. When you find something you love, you have to stick with it. My skirts have never failed me and for that I am forever loyal. And hey, one day, when I am consistently winning races, I'm sure RunningSkirts will sponsor me. Or maybe, when my kids are all in school, I will work for them. You never know ...

And while we are talking about my addiction, I did get a few questions about my RunningSkirts after my 300th post. Laura asked: "Does your husband ever give you a hard time about the amount of running gear/clothes you have and if so how to you handle it?"

No, he NEVER gives me a hard time. J is very supportive of my running and my RunningSkirt addiction for the following three reasons.

1. He knows that I have a monstrous amount of running clothes, but he also knows that I do not purchase any non-running clothing. Seriously. My entire non-running wardrobe consists of a few pairs of jeans, a couple polo shirts (which I never wear) and race tees. I couldn't dress up if I tried. Well, maybe if I wore the old bridesmaid dress that is hanging in my closet.

2. J is a big guy (6'7) and can't buy a suit off of a rack. Unfortunately, he has to wear a suit everyday to work. Getting one custom-made, or even altered, is WAY MORE EXPENSIVE than any running gear I could buy.

3. Um, have you seen my outfits? I look hot. And what husband doesn't want a hot wife? Just saying.

Cynthia O'H asked: "If you could buy any RunningSkirt.com skirt, what would it be? Does your husband know how much they cost or do you keep that a well-hidden secret?"

Right now, if I could buy any one of their skirts it would be the pink and white dots. I just bought that one for a friend (see, I can give too) and it was beyond cute. It was so adorable that Dizzle was actually upset with me for giving it away. So, if anyone is feeling generous and wants to send me a gift, I wear a size 2 skirt and I'm sure by now the RunningSkirt twins have my address memorized.

As for the cost, J is fully aware of the price tag. And yes, I realize that 16 skirts at $48-58 dollars each can really add up. But in my own defense, I haven't actually spent that much on them (at least not personally). You see, I won two of my skirts. Four of them were gifts. Seven were purchased at half price from the website's sale page and the Stroller Strides National Conference and one was 15% off. Only two (my first skirt and my maternity skirt) were full price. But in the last two years, I have paid a heck of a lot in shipping.

not going to lie...I was seriously checking out your legs! Impressive!!! 22 years of playing soccer once made my legs look like that, but since the babies, It is a long way back to that definition!!

Okay seriously they need to sponsor you. I just headed to their website b/c of you and I think I have to order. You always look hot so I am sure your hubby won't complain ;) Thanks for sharing!

haha! They are awesome, and I love your post! I only have 1 running skirts running skirt (bright pumpkin-or I like to call it "dailymile orange") and I DO love it. But the pricetage (over $60 with shipping, even with a discount) does make me cringe a little! I doubt you will ever want to, but if you ever feel the need to try something else, I also love my skirtsports skirt. It has little buttons to attach your bib to the skirt, it's cute! (and only cost $19!)

I think the Smithsonian may be calling you for that impressive collection one day!

My skirt (ok hat) is off to you for supporting such a great company.
I'm planning on doing some serious damage at their booth in Boston.;)

My wish list keeps getting longer since I began in January to visit all of these running mom blogs! :)

Love your photo of all of the skirts!

Happy Easter!

I have been wanting a runningskirts skirt for awhile now, but I'm trying to be patient and hold out until the San Diego Marathon where I know they'll have a booth. That way I can save on the shipping. It's getting harder now that the spring line is out...grrrr!

It is nice to know that they are such a good product that you have returned to them 16 times! Impressive.

And I agree, it's time for a sock-collection gallery.

"So, an alcoholic is someone who's afraid of running out of drink... I am afraid of running out of skirt...."

an actual quote from my skirt-a-holism blog post in November... TMB, I think we need to talk... since the first step on the road to recovery is admitting that you HAVE an addiction...welcome to the club. Uh, I think the second phase is knowing that the addiction is a problem, I haven't MADE it to phase 2 so I don't know...

You're too funny. But hey, I'm pretty sure my quad does look like that. If only I had a nice RunningSkirt to put it in...
Someday, when I'm no longer a poor college student, I will get one. :-)

YOU CRACK ME UP!!!!! So, I'm going to DRIVE three minutes away, to the RS Store and show Krista your blog, she is going to die!!! I pictured you having a ton of skirts but not like this! Runway Model, my training partner, has about 6 of yours and I have the yellow one but girl, you are rockin' the skirts. YOU MUST buy the pink one with dots. I saw it and it is c-u-t-e!
By the way, I think all legs and body types look cute in a skirt, don't you? My husband LOVES it when I wear them, especially train running.

Oh, yes, I forgot. Please share the sock collection next !

Those are waaaaaay cute, girl!! I have tried and failed to wear a skirt, I always feel my superquads make me look like a toadstood! Eeks. My addiction is in the Nike Tempo running shorts and I have probably as many as you do in skirts. I guess when you get an addiction, you may as well get it bad. I think you absolutely need the pink with polka-dots one, that'd be adorble!! Happy Weekend!

Love your collection! I'm so tempted to get one but I never wear skirts in "real life" so not sure how I would feel running in one :-)

Great addiction. I have never worn a running skirt. I feel my legs are too old! But I have lots of running clothes for sure. If you are doing a race in RI let me know. It is quite a drive but I want to do one eventually. Maybe I could talk someone into racing one this summer or fall.
My husband doesn't complain about running clothes because he thinks I look way better from running than I would if I didn't!
My dream job would let me wear running clothes! One year for Spirit Week we had a sports day and I was in heaven. Nothing so exciting this year. Spirit Week is next week and it is the usual tropical day, twin day, crazy hat and hair day. Hmmm maybe I will call my collegue next door who has done some races with me. Then I could wear some running gear!!!

Wow! what a collection! You should start renting them out to those of us who have never tried them ;)

Our hubs are alike. Mine also doesn't complain about my RunningSkirt collection (seriously, I'm not too far behind you). He'd far rather have me well-dressed than not. My boys love them and my youngest wants me to buy a "princess skirt".
If we can apply to work as a team, we can cover the entire continent!

Love the skirt collection! I'm going to have to check those out some day. I'm still in the "my thighs could start a fire while running" phase. ;) and YES, I totally wish that was my quad! HOT! lol

You really do have a stock room load of running skirts! (and we all were envious of your legs!)

OMG....I love your collection! I have been wanting to get one of these skirts for forever, but I have a really hard time buying something w/o trying it on.

Quick question: on the running skirts, does the mesh brief run up or give you a wedgie at all??? I know it's kind of a personal question, but that's my fear...that I will get the skirt, wear it, and the brief will drive me crazy! If it stays put, that would be awesome! Could you please shed some light for me? :)

LOVE IT!! Prety sure once I buy my first I will NEED more!! Hugs to hot wifes :)

Jill said...

Wow that is awesome! You totally should be one of their sponsors.

I have always wanted to try a running skirt and just got a nike one with shorts under but worried it will ride up. Don't your thighs rub together with those skirts since it's just briefs under the skirt? Curious?

Love your post! I am also the proud owner of several running skirts from runningskirts.com (I've lost count). They are my favorite! I prefer the running skirt style over the athletic. I also have a fit momma and ran through my pregnancy!

SO JEALOUS of your collection! I am inspired to start my own. (Don't tell hubs, hehehe) :-)

I have *one* running skirt... and I had to be talked into buying it. I got it to race at Disney (it's the Minnie Skirt). I do love my shorts though :)

I too am a proud owner of MANY running skirts! Lol A friend of mine introduced me to them and viola there you have it! I can't run a race without them, either! We have a lot of the same ones! :0)

Ha! Love it!! And yes I wish my quads looked like that!! Someday soon hopefully!
I own 2 running skirts but have never actually ran in either one of them. I keep telling myself I'm "saving" them for a special race....I think I might wear one to run in tomorrow morning!
