But, you can only push through for so long. Right now, I am zapped. The last 19 days have been so hectic and crazy and exciting and worth cherishing that I have been pushing through to make sure I don't miss anything.
And it's finally caught up to me.
Since August 18th, I have ...
- Driven 11+ hours to and from Rhode Island and then another 3+ hours from Rhode Island to New Hampshire (and back) with three small children along for the ride.
- Flown cross country twice in five days.
- Ran/Survived/Crushed Hood to Coast.
- Logged 107.88 miles.
- Bought a new car.
- Dealt with some "life stresses"
- Eaten nothing but crap.
- Made new friends and amazing memories.
- Managed my family and maintained our home.
- Prepped for my children's return to school.
- Forgotten to sleep.
So, to remedy, I am hitting reset. Taking the rest that I need. Sleeping as much as I can. Eating something other than the jumbo chocolate chip cookies that are sitting on our stove. Because if I don't, I'm pretty sure that things are going to get pretty ugly around here.

sounds like a plan. I took a cross train day today, even though it would have been "convenient" to run... I know that hitting reset is the right thing to do.
The first step to recovery is admitting it! :) You have been crazy busy! Take a few days to reset...sometimes it takes that. After our relay, I felt like I had run TWO marathons. It took a while to get my body back to happiness. Sleep deprevation is a crazy thing. Especially when you have a family that relies on you to come back "normal".
Rest when you die. My motto. Not a good one, but Im sticking with it.
Enjoy every second of that rest, you deserve it all! You have pushed to the limits this past month and have some great things to show for it!!
Wow! Sounds like you have definitely earned that rest!
I hit that reset button yesterday. For all of the EXACT OPPOSITE reasons. I have done nothing... ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to speak of in entirely too long. So you go rest while I try to undo some of the damage I've done to myself these past few weeks of nothingness! Enjoy your holiday! :D
The best thing about this post is that you recognize that you need to take a break. So many times, we as athletes/moms push through it until we break.
enjoy some extra sleep (if you can find it).
Sounds like a most excellent plan. Happy chillin' :)
Please get some rest. Otherwise your body will force you to, and that won't be nice. Besides, you've definitely earned it.
Rest my friend! You deserve it!
Yes, sounds like you need a break! And so glad you recognize this! Enjoy. Go take a nap in that awesome new ride of yours that I saw a picture of recently. Nobody will find you in there...turn on the AC, put the seat back, listen to some tunes and chill out. ;) Or just rest like a normal person.
You definitely deserve some rest. I mean, even super heroes need a nap :)
You have definitely earned some rest! I'm taking the day to do a whole lot of nothing, and I suggest you do the same. Crazy few weeks you have had lately!
:)
give that body and mind some rest...well deserved
I couldn't believe when I saw you post that 14 mile run. Thought you had to be simply burnt out after your past few weeks! Glad to hear you are going to take a little moment to recharge. You completely deserve it!
Enjoy your rest, hope you feel rejuvenated soon :-).
I think you're the only person I "know" that rivals me in crazy time management and it's nice to see I'm not alone. I mostly get lots of incredulous head shaking. Enjoy your rest. You've certainly earned it.
