contagious ...

Would you believe it? It's 5:30 on a Wednesday and I am up to run. I'm about to go out and complete Tall Mom's Virtual 5k for the Cure, which will be my last run before Saturday's half. Note I said COMPLETE because despite being the winner of her last virtual 5K, I am not wasting a single ounce of energy today. I need to save it all up for my sub 2 hour attempt this weekend. And another thing I need to do is make sure that I don't get sick. Which means I should probably stay away from my children just to be safe. I mean, just look at what Dizzle said after soccer practice last night ...

Me: "Dizzle, just share your drink with Doodle. I don't have anything else to give her."

Dizzle: "No! Doodle has germs. And I have the FLU! And if she drinks this, she'll get the flu too."

At which point, I grabbed the cup and gave it to Doodle.

Nice try, Dizzle. But, last time I checked you don't have the flu. Or any other illness for that matter. Except maybe sibling rivalry ...

well maybe she was thinking of my kids! who have been up since midnight throwing up! Gross...I totally would have grabbed the cup too, nothing like a three year old having such great excuses! But they are kinda cute! Take it easy today :) You never know when the flu may strike!

Your little Dizzle is a sharp cookie. She's honed in on the things that are important to adults, good work. Too bad for her that you're always one step ahead.

You're going to be amazing this weekend. Run strong. Every step. Just kill it!

During my last race I remember asking myself "How does this feel?" during every step. I wanted to make sure that I was able to be fast AND sustainable. I kept close watch on my fuel tank and made sure that I wouldn't fall apart before the end.

Good move on taking it easy today. Looks like the weather will be cooperative this weekend, so that is a bonus!

yes....here comes another random comment but . . . .

I love the family names - seriously --- makes me smile just reading it.

I must know where you got the socks you have on in the top [title photo]. I think it every time I visit and always forget after I read the first line of your post.

your blog is awesome.

Enjoy taking it easy on your run! And I love the conversation. I can hear my 4-year-old saying something just like that!

How is it that kids learn the art of negotiation so early in life?

You are so under 2 for your half. No doubt. Are you shooting for any sub-2 time in particular?

Run strong and steady!

You will still probably beat me. :)

Your kids sound hilarious. My kids have that same flu most days too.

Funny!

Yes, my boys are usually good about sharing and, suddenly, out of the blue, one of them has germs. Hours later, they're both germfree again and sharing. Kids!

Family germs don't count, right? Everyone kisses, drools, shares toothbrushes and cups so if anyone is sick, it's just assumed all will be sick. EXCEPT you, you have a half marathon to run. Don't kiss or slurp around anyone!
YES! The gnome socks come in ankle length but not knee highs, I already looked for you!
