6 a.m. wins and losses ...

By 6 a.m. this morning, several things occurred. Some, wins. Some, not so much.

Things I DIDN'T do this morning:
  • skimp on my training
  • sleep in
  • put on my contacts
  • remember my GPS watch
  • run outside
  • drown
  • sink
  • drown
  • panic
  • drown
  • flail
  • drown
  • breaststroke
  • did I mention, drown?
Things I DID do this morning:
  • woke up at 4:30 a.m.
  • more swim training than I've ever done in my life
  • wore a latex cap, goggles and a new swimsuit
  • swam 200 meters (yes, that is more swim training than I've ever done in my life)
  • didn't drown
  • swam freestyle, something I was convinced was impossible
  • ran inside on the YMCA treadmill
  • swam
  • contracted pinkeye
  • swam
  • wore my glasses which are 10 years old and the wrong prescription
  • swam
  • wore a winter hat while running on the treadmill even though the gym was 14 billion degrees just to keep the glasses from falling off
  • did I mention that I swam?
I'm calling today a win. Pinkeye and all.

Woohoo for swimming and not drowning!!

I get pink eye from the kids about once a year. Every time I'm reminded that my glasses are from before kids. New glasses in 2012! That's my motto LOL.

Hilarious! It is kind of gross that you swam with pink eye. I am sure you are glad to have the first swim out of the way!!

Pink eye is the worst! One of the evils of swimming in a community gym pool. Good thing you didn't drown! www.dashingdiva.net

I like that you DID "didn't drown". I think swimming in the morning is a huge accomplishment, any distance. Wow.

I have never been a swimmer but just started going to the pool this week. I am loving it! Sorry about the pinkeye. Ew.

I'm teaching my husband to swim right now as he gets ready for a new super-job. I notice most people who struggle with freestyle do not have an efficient kick. Start with a kick board and get long legs with floppy feet. You get get fast, faster by breaking it all down :)

Woohoo! I would call it a win too!

I'm looking into swim lessons right now. I want to complete my first marathon before I do my first triathlon, but I figured I'm going to need a ton of help with my swimming efforts. Good job not drowning!

I love that you didn't drown! That is a HUGE check on the win side! You ROCK!!! I always keep eye drops in my medicine closet, pink eye and strep are the two illnesses of choice in this house!

Getting up at 4:30 is already impressive, but getting up to swim is bad ass :)
