Hood to Coast Preview ...

Unless you live in a bubble, you probably know that this Friday and Saturday, I will be running Hood to Coast (a.k.a. the Mother of All Relays) with Nuun Platuun (and our sister team, AfterNUUN Delite). I'll be joined by 19 other amazing blogging runners and 4 Nuun staff members for a 197 mile, two day adventure.

To say that I am excited would be an understatement.

I know that running this relay, while being sponsored by Nuun, is pretty much a once in a lifetime chance (Yes, I am trying to make you jealous). And considering I live 3,000 miles or so from Oregon, it's probably the only time I'll ever run this race. Thus, I plan to make the most of it.

So, here's what I have in mind ...

1. Have fun.
2. Spread the Nuun love.
3. Take lots of pictures.
4. Look fantastic.
5. Run strong, meaning stick as close to those prediction times as possible.

And speaking of those prediction times, here's what I have ahead of me:

Leg 11: Leg on Springwater trail over relatively rolling to flat terrain
Distance: 4.84 mile
Predicted Times: 40:34 (8:22 pace)

Leg 23: Basically flat terrain on narrow country roads with minimal shoulder
Distance: 4.18 mile
Predicted Times: 33:52 (8:06 pace)

Leg 35: Gently rolling terrain on a combination of paved and gravel roads
Distance: 8.09 mile
Predicted Times: 1:13:58 (9:08 pace)

Needless to say, this is going to be interesting. I'm not really sure how they figured out those paces (OK, they used my 10K time), but if they say I can, then I guess I can, right?

And because I know you want to track the Nuun teams all weekend long (both teams start at 12:30 on Friday), I'm going to give you about a zillion (or five) ways to do that.

1. Follow me on Twitter (@tmbrunnerfirst) HERE
2. Follow Nuun Platuun on Twitter (@NuunPlatuun) HERE
3. Follow AfterNUUN Delite on Twitter (@AfterNUUNDelite) HERE
4. "Like" Racing With Babes on Facebook HERE
5. "Like" Bloggers spreading the Nuun Love on Facebook HERE

Am I missing something? 8 miles in 40 minutes? Is that right?

Regardless, kick some ass and good luck! And please take pictures :)

Have fun. It looks like your last leg is your hardest leg.

Have fun and good luck!! That last leg looks killer!

um.... something isn't right with the prediction for the last leg. 8 miles in 40 minutes would be 5 min miles.

that math issue aside, HAVE FUN!

That just made this whole adventure seem less enticing to me. Why? Because it's one thing for me to want/expect a pace of myself but a whole different kindo'pressure when someone else is expecting it from me.

But I know YOU won't have any trouble with those paces, easey-peaszy! I can't want to read everyone's reports to remind me that it would be crazy fun to be able to do something like this.

Is everyone okay in your fam' with the EQ in VA?
