the newest members of my running family ...

Last night, J and I took the girls on a walk around the neighborhood. Our house is located on the corner of a cul-de-sac. That cul-de-sac is on a street that circles around to make a mile loop. It's low traffic and perfect for walking.

Things started off fine, but about a quarter mile in, Doodle started whining. And if you ever met Doodle, you know, she whines BIG. She was saying over and over, "I'm tired." But we trudged on.

Then, about halfway through, J told Doodle that if she ran, we would be home faster. And it worked. Suddenly, my 3 and 4 year olds were running the half mile home (holding J's hand, of course, we were in the street and I'm all about safety). We would try to get them to run to the next sign or next parked car, but when we got there, they'd stop for all of three seconds and start running again. Dilly (in the stroller) and I "chased" them the whole way. It was so much fun. And I was instantly daydreaming about when they are older and we can be one big running family.

And speaking of my running family, here are the two newest members. The Wave Rider 13 (yes, I just got new shoes, but my now even legs have changed my gait)

And three pairs of neon socks.

Pretty sweet, right?

The socks are cute, but I don't know how you can stand to run in them. They would drive me crazy!

very sweet! I love this! oh ps target had TONS of knee highs socks in different spring patterns and regular patterns. Some are $2! the most expensive are $5. I was thinking about getting a pair for the cherry blossom but felt the need to consult you first.

2 nights ago my husband and I went for a 3 mile jog (I am trying to get the hubby running) and Oscar our 3 year old decided he wanted to run...AND he ran an entire mile in a t-shirt, diaper, no shorts and his crocs! We were laughing the whole way. It too makes me so excited to run races with my boys by my side. This past Saturday the 5k I ran had tons of moms running with their kids! It is so great!!! Have a wonderful day!

I love running with my four! They help me out a lot with speed training! :) Kids just dash and then like you said stop to take a breath before they head out again. I am proud of my ten year old as she is really taking our little 5K training seriously. I'm not sure my almost 8 year old is quite there yet. I so want them all to love running too! Enough rambling . . . happy day. I love your socks!

I got new shoes a few weeks ago, and I still feel like I'm getting used to them. My ankles turned in horribly in the old, and now in the new, my legs are straight. But now I'm using new muscles and I get SORE!!

Love the new pic! And good job on finishing even 9! Def being dehydrated will make everything ten times harder!
BTW, are those running socks? Do you worry about blisters and stuff when you wear them?

Running with your kids is great! My now 8 year old son won his age group at his elementary school 5k last year (mostly because we had taught him not to race the first 100 yards then start walking the rest of the race). It was so cool to see him win :)

I LOVE those socks.

I look forward to the kinds of evenings you just described! The twins have their first "event" in about a month... They are signed up to do the Diaper Dash that is part of the Marathon weekend. They will have NO idea what's going on, but we are excited!

Love the socks! And Mizunos rock.

Love the new pic, great yellow skirt. I love running in skirts, but didn't have any fancy ones. Just got a rock'n red one from skirt sports that I flaunted at my last 20K. I may have been the slowest out there, but was voted best dressed at the first aid station. Thanks for keeping things fun, long following your sunny spirit.
